Henderson County Exhibit Celebrates Art of Our Children
Post Date: 02.22.2011
With school budgets being slashed and the arts often losing ground in our schools, The Arts Council of Henderson County offers an elementary school exhibition reception with 2011 Art of Our Children. The opening of the exhibition along with the reception are Friday, February 25, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. The show takes place at First Citizens Bank, 539 North Main Street, in downtown Hendersonville. The event is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served.
The exhibit will include visual and performing arts components in a show featuring the works of children all across Henderson County. The Hendersonville Children's Choir will provide the opening reception performance at 5:45 p.m. on February 25. The choir will also perform as part of the exhibit on March 4 at 4 p.m.
This show is part of the first exhibition of The Arts Council of Henderson County's major winter/spring project. Along with the Elementary Art show, the Council also will present an Art Teacher Display and Secondary Education Art shows.
The Arts Council of Henderson County is a community nonprofit that promotes, advocates for, and nurtures the arts in Henderson County and Western North Carolina. Its new office is located in the Community Foundation of Henderson County's suite at 401 North Main Street in Hendersonville.
