2010 Art In Autum
Post Date: 09.01.2010

How many years must pass before something can be described as a “tradition?” It was right after the very first “Art in Autumn” juried craft festival in Weaverville in 2007 that its creators and the participating juried artists were convinced the show would be a surefire hit that would continue for years.
What’s all the fuss you ask? Find out for yourself by marking your calendar for the fourth annual “Art in Autumn” scheduled for Saturday, September 18. Hours are 9–5 p.m.
Weaverville — a warm and friendly small town just a quick ten minutes north of Asheville—invites visitors to stroll through a stunning array of high quality juried work that will include jewelry, ceramics, wood, fiber, glass, multimedia, photography, paintings, metalwork, and sculpture. This year’s judge is Sherry B. Masters, general manager and buyer for the Grovewood Gallery in Asheville. She is tasked with choosing who will be awarded the $1,000 Best of Show from among the more than 100 artists
Old-time and bluegrass music will be featured throughout the day alongside festival food vendors. Also, area restaurants such as Blue Mountain Pizza, Sunnyside Café, Mike’s Main Street Grill, Maggie B’s, and Well-Bred Bakery will be open from early morning until late evening. There will be ample free parking in designated parking lots off North and South Main Streets, including areas for handicapped parking.
In addition to “Art in Autumn” exhibitors, downtown Main Street boasts a unique blend of galleries, boutiques, working studios, and retail shops that await your arrival. Small town Weaverville full of nostalgic charm knows how to throw an “Art Party” and you want to be a part of this tradition.
