FW Front Gallery Presents: Nora Hartlaub
Post Date: 08.01.2010
Through August, the FW Front Gallery is hosting the works of local artist Nora Hartlaub in an exhibition titled “Conscious Craft.” An opening reception will be held from 5–7 P.M. on August 6.
A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art in Fiber and Material Studies, Nora expresses the need for the artist to create a proactive role in the world, as opposed to merely commenting on it. For this reason, she often organizes projects for the benefit of nonprofit organizations—and, at times, for the unsuspecting public. For this show, Nora has created fiber sculptures of hugging ladies in which a portion of the proceeds will go to the organization Our Voice, and also mixed media houses titled “Houses for Haiti,” with a portion of the sales of these going to the American Red Cross.
The gallery is located at 25 Haywood Street in downtown Asheville. For more information, visit woolworthwalk.com or call 828.254.9234.
