Land Expressions
For the past seven years, Charlie Rosenstein has been transforming outdoor spaces and bringing curb appeal to area neighborhoods and businesses through his company Land Expressions. Charlie’s previous experience in real estate and home renovation serves him well.
“For years, I would buy homes, renovate them, and then turn around and sell them,” he says. “I gained a lot of hands-on experience with local contractors.”
Charlie, who earned his degree in Environmental Health Science and Safety Technology from East Carolina University, says his is a full-service business. He does everything from small home projects to large-scale commercial jobs—the installation of trees and plants, fencing and gates, retaining walls, stone paths, stairways and patios, water features, walking and hiking trails, and gardens.
Along with landscaping, he also provides handyman services such as gutter cleaning and repair, erosion control, gravel spread- ing, pressure washing, general cleaning, organization, and winterizing.
Charlie enjoys the challenge of developing designs that meet his client’s practical needs as well as their esthetic vision. The company provides free consultations and design services.
Land Expressions is located at One West Pack Square, Suite 508 (in the BB&T building). Visit them online at landexpressionsllc.com or call 828.210.8160.

Lucy Anne
Shopping at Lucy Anne, located at the Thomas Wolfe Plaza, is a little like having your own personal shopper. Owners Ann Hunter and Lucy Stella opened the women’s clothing boutique in 1988 and know how to take care of their clients. “I love the fact that they call me when something new comes in that they think I will like,” says one customer.
Above-and-beyond service (such as on-site alterations, those personal phone calls to clients, and even searching for special items at market) makes a visit to Lucy Anne thoroughly enjoyable. “When we go to market, our focus is always on our shoppers’ needs and tastes while giving them the greatest value,” says Lucy.
The 800-square-foot shop features fashionable, high quality women’s wear from designers including Louben, Elliott Lauren, Misook, Chetta B, Kay Unger, and David Meister. There are beautiful finds for today’s professional, stunning formal wear, and the selection of everyday styles and sportswear is impressive. Be sure to check out the display of handcrafted, local jewelry and new fall items.
The store is filled with gently used, well cared for, high quality pieces including dining sets, sofas, chairs, bedroom suites, area rugs, art, and lighting. The inventory is constantly changing and represents all styles from modern to traditional. They even have custom- made dog beds and decorative accessories.
The store is located at 28 North Spruce Street in the Thomas Wolfe Plaza. You can reach them at 828.251.5164.

Frugal Décor & More
When sisters-in-law Sheila and Dayna Pelle decided to open an upscale furniture consignment store, they knew there was need but say they were surprised by the community’s response.
They opened Frugal Décor & More in an 8,000-square-foot space off Sweeten Creek Road this past July. “Once we told people we were opening the store, it took only two weeks to fill the space,” says Dayna.
Both Sheila and Dayna have worked in the furniture industry with Sheila’s father (Dayna’s father-in-law) Rudy Pelle of Rudy’s Furniture Warehouse for years. When buying new furniture, customers would often ask if Rudy’s would buy their existing pieces, explains Dayna.
“There was nothing like this in Asheville,” Sheila adds. “This is such a better way to recycle your furniture. You don’t have people coming to your home or have to mess with selling online.”
The store is filled with gently used, well cared for, high quality pieces including dining sets, sofas, chairs, bedroom suites, area rugs, art, and lighting. The inventory is constantly changing and rep- resents all styles from modern to traditional. They even have custom- made dog beds and decorative accessories.
Visit them at 1100 W. Chapel Road (between Asheville Pediatrics and Iwanna off Sweeten Creek Road) or online at frugaldecorandmore.com. The store can be reached at 828.277.5700.

Stacie’s Personal Care Services
As a registered nurse, Stacie Wilson was well qualified to care for her ailing parents. It was during this very personal experience that she realized the importance of helping them live independently for as long as possible. Stacie and her husband Dan opened Stacie’s Personal Care Services in 2005, and the firm now serves nine counties throughout Western North Carolina with offices in Waynesville, Hendersonville, and their new office in downtown Weaverville.
“It was in caring for them that I found my love,” explains Stacie. She and her husband care deeply about helping families deal with the needs of aging parents as well as allowing older adults to stay in their homes. Stacie and her staff of 130 home care paraprofessionals, working under the philosophy of improving quality of life, provide non-medical assistance, including monitoring vital signs, medication reminders, personal care, meal preparations, transportation, and much needed companionship.
Each case is assessed and supervised by a registered nurse. Once the level of care is determined, either an in-home aid or certi- fied nursing assistant is assigned. “Asking for help can be difficult,” says Stacie. “We understand this and can answer questions and provide families the peace of mind.”
