6th Annual Plunge Benefit-t-t-ting Kids in the Creek & Environmental Education
February 17 @ 11:30 am - 2:00 pm$10 – $25
Haywood Waterways and the Town of Canton are hosting the 6th Annual Plunge Benefit-t-t-ting Kids in the Creek & Environmental Education Saturday, February 17. It all begins at 11:30 am at the beautiful, brand new, and never-before-used Canton Pool – 77 Penland Street, Canton (registration opens at 10 am). There will be great prizes for the top fundraisers and best costumes. All Plungers receive a free t-shirt to commemorate their courage. Everyone, including spectators, get a chance to win one of many great door prizes.
We’re seeking as many valiant souls as possible to help raise money for our premier education event – Kids in the Creek – one that teachers call extremely valuable for teaching about water quality and the students call cool. We’ll save you the long details but we do have data that demonstrates the program is a very effective tool for bringing out environmentally-responsible behavior in kids.
Come join us so you can say you were one of the first to ever jump in the new Canton Pool, and in the middle of winter. Plungers will have two options, run in from the beach to a depth of your choice (a toe is fine!) or a spotlight plunge off the diving board. All ages welcome, though kids will need their parent’s to sign the liability form. Shirt and shoes are mandatory, costumes are encouraged.
The cost is $25 or FREE by raising sponsorships ($10 for under age 18). Register at www.crowdrise.com/o/en/campaign/6thannualhwaplunge
by Joining the Team, then “Donate” your $25, or even better, send your personal link that it will create to all of your family, friends, and coworkers so they can pay for you ($1, $5, $25, everything counts) and have a chance for one of the top fundraiser prizes. All donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
You can also register by mail. Visit here for the Sponsorship, Registration, and Information Packet.
We will have food trucks, coffee, hot chocolate, and bonfires going to help folks warm up as well as heated indoor changing facilities. Since it is a winter Plunge, the event will happen snow, rain, or shine! We’re also seeking Event Sponsors. Want to see your business in lights? Everything you need to know is in the Sponsorship Packet.
