The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a four-day schedule will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Asheville Jewish Community Center Hanukkah 8K

Please join us for the Asheville Jewish Community Center’s 2nd annual JCC Hanukkah 8K! The race begins at 9:15 am on December 10 at the Asheville JCC, 236 Charlotte Street. Runners and walkers of all ages are encouraged to participate.
The event is a community-wide celebration of the upcoming 8 day Jewish holiday of Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights. Proceeds of the JCC Hanukkah 8K will benefit Shalom Children’s Center.
Race day registration is 7-9 A.M. on Sunday morning, December 10, at the Jewish Community Center.
In conjunction with the Hanukkah 8K, there will be a FREE kids’ race starting at 8:30 am where kids will be challenged to run 8 laps around the JCC parking lot. Those kids that raise $25 or more in pledges will receive a t-shirt.

Become a JCC Hanukkah 8K Ambassador!
The JCC needs help from our active friends to spread the word about our annual race happening this winter at the Jewish Community Center: The JCC Hanukkah 8K! In order to qualify to become a JCC Hanukkah 8K Ambassador, all you need is an active lifestyle, be that one of running, biking, swimming, walking, yoga, or whatever your choice of exercise is, and a few social media accounts.
What’s A JCC Hanukkah 8k Ambassador?
As a JCC Hanukkah 8K Ambassador, you will be asked to help promote our road race happening on Sunday, December 10, 2017. JCC Hanukkah 8K Ambassadors will engage and involve their social media communities in their training regime as they prepare for the race. That means posting to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts at least twice a week with updates and photos of their running, walking, or stretching in preparation for the JCC Hanukkah 8K. All JCC Hanukkah 8k Ambassadors have to do is post beautiful selfies, tag @ashevillejcc and #hanukkah8k in your posts, and link to the Asheville JCC Hanukkah 8k page on the JCC website!
