Intro — Emerging Ceramicists in Western North Carolina
December 1, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - January 5, 2018 @ 5:00 pmFree
The thing that defines a tradition is the way it grows and develops over time. No traditional art form, whether it be music, painting or ceramics, remains static and easily labeled for very long. New influences are always coming into play, as upcoming generations learn to appreciate and revere the work of established artists but are inevitably inspired to interpret the art in new and sometimes brilliant ways.
This year, we look towards a fresh generation of potters inspired by the rich traditions of our region’s ceramics. We are very proud to feature these exceptional young artists in the exhibition, “Intro — Emerging Ceramicists in Western North Carolina,” and we look forward to seeing how their talents and vision shape the traditions of our ceramic heritage in the coming years.
Participating Artists Include: Matt Wegleitner, Tara Underwood, Micah Thanhauser, Dustin Fowler, Kristen Schoonover, The Bright Angle, Nina Kawar , Amanda Holloman – Cook, Anja Bartles, Candice Hensley, Molly Morning Glory, Samantha Oliver
