OGS SUPPORTS POLLINATION CELEBRATIONS DURING THE MONTH OF JUNE.

The Asheville and Hendersonville chapters of Bee City USA are offering events for their annual Pollination Celebration throughout the month of June. We are happy to announce our participation in a number of these events. Please note the dates (do not coincide with FB event dates) — take your pick, and pass the word. INTRODUCTION TO BEEKEEPING

Presented by Henderson County Beekeepers Association/Hendersonville Bee City USA, Organic Growers School and Veterans Healing Farm

This informative program on how to get started in beekeeping will be presented by experienced local beekeepers from the Henderson County Beekeepers Association. Topics will include basic bee biology and terminology, equipment and investment, how to get bees, beekeeper responsibilities, producing local honey, benefits of joining a bee club, and more.

Henderson County Beekeepers Association provides educational programming for beekeepers and wannabeekeepers year round. The Mission of the Veteran’s Healing Farm is to support veterans and caregivers by providing access to fresh produce, farm activities, and seminars on holistic health and sustainability.

Buncombe County Beekeepers, in partnership with Organic Growers School and The Lords Acre, will do an educational presentation for the general public on the importance of pollinators to our food supply. Visitors will also be introduced to the garden apiary, learn about plants that support bees, and have an opportunity to ask questions about how bees and other pollinators affect our daily lives. These presentations are among the many delights to be experienced on the Gardens of Fairview Tour June 10-11.

OGS is building a vibrant food and farming community by boosting the success of organic home growers and farmers in our region.
