A Valentine’s Day Treat: S/He Love Me, S/He Loves Me Not

Post Date: 02.01.2011

Love is something which stirs us, something we all yearn for - men and women, young and old, traditional and non-traditional. S/He Loves Me, S/He Loves Me Not... will merge dance and song in a visceral, intriguing journey through the best and worst of love. The show is a production of Moving Women, a collaborative dance performance company that is a program of Arts2People.

The event will begin at 7:30 P.M. on Monday, February 14, as soon as you enter the historic Masonic Temple building in downtown Asheville. Performances by Cilla Vee-Life Arts and Julie Gillum will greet pre-show attendees, decadent desserts will provide a delight at intermission, and the art by Shelley Pereda will inspire all.

Diverse and talented musicians River Guerguerian, Kat Williams, Joe Ebel, Annie Lalley, Crystal Bray and Tom Leiner along with dancers of Moving Women, (Kathy Meyers, Jenni Cockrell, Erin Braasch) and guests Kathleen Hahn, Holly Mason, and Erik Moellering will create an atmosphere as comical, passionate, and heart stirring as any relationship. This is a perfect evening to share with a special someone.

The production began with the chance match.com meeting of choreographer Kathy Meyers and songwriter Tom Leiner.

Following several social gatherings with the collective network of talent, the two artists were prompted to the obvious match of music and dance and invited their professional songwriter/musician friends to collaborate with dancers in this project.

Grounded in modern dance, Moving Women’s projects have aimed to explore the cathartic experience of movement and the inspiration offered by collaboration with other artists to create original works. Tickets are available in advance from $10–20 per person and $15–35 per couple, depending on seating. For more information and to purchase tickets, call 828.215.2410 or email Kathy@arts2people.org.
