Black Mountain Center’s Hosts Sixth Annual Art Auction
By Rita Vermillion - Post Date: 03.01.2011
The 6th Annual Auction for the Arts will be held at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts, 225 W. State Street in the original City Hall in downtown Black Mountain, on Saturday, March 5, at 6 P.M. The evening will begin with a silent auction and will include heavy hors d’oeuvres and a wine-and-beer bar. Auctioneer John Hill, of Weaverville, will oversee the bidding action.
Besides functional art and crafts by area artisans, other packages are also sure to draw attention. Among these, for example, is a Grandparent’s Package of things to do with grandchildren such as toys and day passes to local attractions. A Local Foods Package comes with a CSA membership and foods from nearby farms. The Automobile Package will include a discount on tire purchase, and detailing and other maintenance. For Theater and Dinner lovers, the package will contain tickets for stage plays and gift certificates to restaurants. A package for the Gardener will include garden tools, supplies, services, and delivered stone.
The purpose of the event is to raise funds for the Arts Center, a nonprofit organization whose mission is “to bring arts to the people and people to the arts.”
For information, visit blackmountainarts.org. To purchase tickets, call 828.669.0930. As the number of seats for the auction is limited to 100, reservations are recommended. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
