Art in the Park Returns to Pack Square

Post Date: 06.01.2011

Asheville Art in the Park will take place in Pack Square from 10–5 p.m. on three consecutive Saturdays: June 11, 18, and 25. More than 80 different artists will be exhibiting their work.

Now in its third year, Asheville Art in the Park was the first event held in Pack Square after the park’s renovation was completed in 2009. Continuing to bring more than 50 artists to Pack Square for 3 Saturdays each June, and again in October, Art in the Park brings some of the finest professional artists in the region to the center of downtown Asheville.

Artists will personally exhibit their creations which including ceramics, glass, woodworking, metalsmithing, and two-dimensional art. The market promises a tantalizing array of con- temporary and traditional mountain art and crafts.

The Asheville Art in the Park market provides more than a unique shopping opportunity, as art collectors will also support local nonprofit arts organizations. Ten percent of all sales at the market are donated to local nonprofit groups. This effort has previously assisted groups such as Handmade in America, the Asheville Area Arts Council, and The Flood Gallery, among others.

The June market features two-dimensional artists such as Jennifer Barrineau, Alicia Chatham, and Ed Rowles, and pottery from Joppa Mountain, Erin Janow, and Byers Pottery. Also present will be amazing new talent such as jewelers Wren Hendrickson from the new Goldworks Gallery and Katrina Grey of Earthwear Jewelry.
