Asheville Symphony Presents Holiday Pops Concert

Post Date: 12.01.2011

The Asheville Symphony Orchestra (ASO) continues its annual tradition with a Holiday Pops concert conducted by Daniel Meyer at 3 P.M. on Sunday, December 18, at Thomas Wolfe Auditorium. The concert will feature the Asheville Symphony Chorus directed by Michael Lancaster. The Asheville Symphony Children’s Chorus will also perform, with Timothy Wilds directing. The guest soloist for the concert is Billy Jonas.

Billy is one of those rare performers who captivates all audiences, young and adult. For more than two decades, his creative and interactive performances have touched hearts, souls, and minds around the world. He makes innovative use of “found objects,” and helps audiences discover the music within themselves.

The performance will offer a wide variety of holiday and Christmas favorites, such as “Sleigh Ride,” “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” “Silver Bells, and “March of the Toys” from Babes in Toyland. The orchestra will also perform excerpts from The Nutcracker. And you’ll get to participate in a holiday sing-a-long that will include “Joy to the World, “Deck the Halls,” and other favorites.

Tickets are available through the Asheville Symphony and the Asheville Civic Center ticket offices, and range in price from $20–55 (with discounts available for students). For information, call 828.254.7046 or visit ashevillesymphony.org.
