AmiciMusic Plans Chamber Music Concerts Across Region

Post Date: 01.01.2012

AmiciMusic, founded this past October by Daniel Weiser, a Peabody Conservatory-trained pianist, will be presenting chamber music concerts in a variety of venues across the region.

“We believe that chamber music is best heard in intimate spaces and informal atmospheres where the audience and performers are united in a special spirit of friendship and community,” says Daniel.

After moving to the region two years ago, he began playing under the name of his other chamber music organization, Classicopia, which is based in New Hampshire and has a very similar mission. “I had no idea how excited people would be here to see and hear this type of intimate chamber music,” he says. “I realized that we really needed to have our own North Carolina-based organization that would be dedicated only to performing concerts and outreach programs in this region.”

AmiciMusic plans to do monthly concerts in such places as private homes, bars, theaters, churches, and assisted living facilities. The organization also has an educational outreach program that they hope to bring into public schools as soon as possible to introduce young people to chamber music.

This month, violinist Rachel Patrick will present works by Grieg, Brahms, Clara Schumann, Kreisler, and others. Concerts will be at the Altamont Theatre in Asheville at 7:30 p.m. on January 6 (myaltamont.com), White Horse in Black Mountain at (7 p.m. on January 7 (whitehorseblackmountain.com), and in a private home 3 p.m. on January 8 (email daniel@amicimusic.org for reservations and information).

Also in January, AmiciMusic will present “The Power of Three,” piano trios with violinist Amy Lovinger and cellist Franklin Keel. Visit amicimusic.org, for more information.
