Evergreen Hosts Cyber Auction to Benefit Environmental Programs

Post Date: 01.01.2012

Evergreen Community Charter School is going high tech to help fill the gap left by state education cutbacks. The school’s ninth annual CAFE (Caring Atists for Evergreen) online auction will run from 8 a.m. on January 10 until midnight January 22. The auction will feature a special art collection including works from such nationally- acclaimed local artists as Jimmy O’Neal, Dustin Spagnola, Richard Oversmith, and Melissa Terezza.

Also available for online bidding will be gift certificates to local restaurants, hair salons, music lessons, and professional services, as well as exotic get-a-ways, vacation homes, and a variety of other items.

The special art collection will be showcased at The Orange Peel at 9 p.m. on January 13, when the Steep Canyon Rangers perform a benefit concert for Evergreen. Tickets to the concert are $20 in advance and $22 at the door and can be purchased at The Orange Peel.

CAFE helps support the school’s innovative environmental education curriculum that includes water quality testing in local streams, running activity buses on biodiesel, managing parking lot runoff with rain gardens, installing solar panels, and creating butterfly gardens and an organic community garden.
