Post Date: 01.27.2012
A collection of work created by more than 40 artists with developmental, mental, and emotional disabilities takes the spotlight at Asheville's Satellite Gallery February 4-March 3.
After five consecutive shows at the Asheville Area Arts Council Front Gallery the artists of Open Hearts Art Center change venues for their sixth annual show. The exhibition kicks off with an opening reception on February 4 from 7-10 p.m.
The artists of Open Hearts Art Center have exhibited artwork locally, regionally, and nationally. Artwork can be viewed at Woolworth Walk, Homegrown Restaurant, City Bakery, Rocky’s Hot Chicken Shack and on Etsy.com
Open Hearts Art Center provides the opportunity for differently abled adults to express themselves using a variety of creative avenues. Through innovative and stimulating forms of expression, individuals begin to define themselves using words like "skilled," "talented," and “gifted."
The Satellite Gallery is located at 55 Broadway Street in downtown Asheville. Call 828.505.2225 for more information or visit thesatellitegallery.com. For more information about Open Hearts Art Center, visit openheartsartcenter.org.
