Paintings by Local Artist Julie Robinson at Kimmett Gallery
Post Date: 01.01.2012
The Kimmett Gallery at Restaurant Solace, 1 Battery Park, joins the downtown Asheville art gallery scene, opening with “Perceptions,” featuring the paintings of local artist Julie Robinson.
Julie’s acrylic, mixed-media paintings create a fusion of contemporary expressionism and what can best described as abstract transcendental painting. She incorporated layers of glazes over soft fluid areas. The title of the exhibition is an open invitation to viewers to bring their own personal interpretation to each painting.
Recently inducted into the juried National Association of Women Artists, Julie holds a masters degree in architecture and has studied painting throughout the United States. She resides in and takes inspiration from Asheville.
Gallery owners Annie and Bryan Kimmett both come from families of painters and have had a long-standing love of art. Kimmett Gallery will feature several exhibitions throughout the year, with a focus on contemporary artists who have connection to our region.
The gallery is open from 11:30–10 p.m. daily.
