Storyhill at Mountain Spirit Coffeehouse
Post Date: 01.01.2012
Folk duo Storyhill will entertain the audience at Mountain Spirit Coffee house at 7 p.m. on January 15, with infectious melodies, smart story songs, and heartbreaking harmonies.
Chris Cunningham and John Hermanson grew up and started performing together as teenagers while living in Bozeman, Montana, playing in bands and singing with choirs. They recorded their first tape as Chris and Johnny in 1989, upon graduating from high school. After college, they toured for three years, playing constantly and recording several self-released albums. And then they parted ways.
Storyhill fans, however, continued to clamor for more, and so Chris and John played a few sold-out reunion shows in Minnesota and Montana. Discovering the old chemistry was still there along with some new creative energy, they reformed Storyhill and fully committed themselves to touring and recording as a duo.
They returned to the basics that had originally made them popular and were soon performing on national radio shows Mountain Stage and Prairie Home Companion.
In addition to Storyhill, Chris and John are continuing their separate pursuits in Montana and Minnesota. Chris produces recordings at Basecamp Recording, a studio he built just outside of Bozeman. John works as a producer in Minneapolis and continues to play with Alva Star.
