The Fourth Annual CiderFest NC

CiderFest NC Comes to Salvage Station October 15

The fourth annual CiderFest NC will be held at Salvage Station, 468 Riverside Drive, on Saturday, October 15, from 1–5 p.m. The event, a fundraiser for WNC Green Building Council, will feature tastings of local and national cider, mead and apple wine makers, artisanal food, live music, workshops, arts and crafts and a kids’ zone.

“The festival draws a wide range of people,” says Cari Barcas, community engagement director for WNC Green Building Council, “from cider lovers looking to sample some of the nation’s best craft cider and mead, to families looking for kid-friendly fall activities, to area residents interested in supporting and learning more about sustainable living.”

CiderFest NC has tripled in size since its inception and is expected to draw even more people this year. A new location and earlier date affords attendees the opportunity to enjoy fall colors along the French Broad River. Cider-making demos will be back by popular demand, along with other workshops and children’s activities. A variety of craft food vendors will offer small bites, such as cheeses and baked goods, to accompany the ciders and meads on offer.

“It’s nice to have a chance to celebrate our seasonal product, in season, with fellow cider makers and those that enjoy it,” says Jeff Anderson, marketing and creative director for Urban Orchard Cider Company. “The crowd is a good mixture. Some folks are purists and reluctant to try ciders like our Sidra Del Diablo (habanero-vanilla) and others are upset if we don’t bring it. In either case, we’re happy to see people get excited about the craft cider scene.”

Advance tickets are $30 for general admission or $15 for a designated driver pass. Guests 20 and under are admitted free of charge. Find more information and purchase tickets at ciderfestnc.com.
