A Summer of Music at Isis

A quartet of shows headlines a month full of amazing musical talent at Isis Restaurant & Music Hall.

At 7 p.m. on Friday, July 8, Mountain Spirit and Isis present An Evening with Andrew Finn Magill in a double CD release party for his new albums Roots and Branches. Tickets are $15.

Andrew was born into a musical family and grew up in Western North Carolina. By age 14, he was a two-time finalist at the All-Ireland fiddle championships. Irish fiddle master Martin Hays said of Andrew, “(He) is a leading fiddler in a new generation of musicians. He plays with incredible versatility and is accomplished in a variety of styles. More important than his technical prowess is the fact that he approaches music with deep insight, sensitivity, and respect.”

Combining amazing musicianship with masterful and humorous storytelling, Brother Sun (Greg Greenway, Pat Wictor, and Joe Jencks) has earned a national reputation for their harmonies and lyrics. Their music—described as warm as a campfire, stirring as a gospel church, and rousing as a call to arms—bridges seemingly disconnected genres: folk, Americana, blues, pop, jack rock, and a cappella singing.
