Fall Edition of LEAF

Post Date: 10.29.2010

Experience the enchantment of the Lake Eden Arts Festival (LEAF) at Camp Rockmont in Black Mountain. This popular biannual gathering celebrates cultural diversity through arts and music with top- notch entertainment for the whole family.

The festival brings together in a picturesque, lakefront setting varied arts and musical traditions from cultures worldwide.

Be transported to the islands with the sounds of Caribbean artists such as Boukman Eksperyman and Bongo & Vodou Drums of Haiti. Dance to the folk tunes of crowd favorites like The Indigo Girls and global hits from Playing for Change. Many diverse musical acts are scheduled for the four-day weekend, along with poetry readings, puppet shows, dance performances, trapeze acts, hula hoopers, and even chess tournaments.

In between musical shows, browse the artists’ booths that showcase everything from fiber arts and jewelry design to ceramics and crafts. The display of folk art cars (including Capman’s famous bottle cap truck) always draws a crowd. Destress with the many healing arts activities such as yoga, trail rides, hikes, and chakra dances, and learn about healing weeds and natural foods.

LEAF’s recent expansion of its “LEAFlet Kids Village” allows families with children to share the experience from the eyes of a child with their own stages for kids’ music, workshops and interactive areas such as the LIPZ–LEAF Instrument Petting Zoo, unicycle craziness, talent stage, and other playful adventures.

There’s always great selection of international gourmet fare at LEAF. All the food is freshly prepared on site. Soul fuel, delectable creations, mountain treats, and fine festival food will be available.
