Benefit Concert & Book Signing for Asheville Humane Society

Post Date: 10.01.2010

Popular singing duo Amy White and Al Petteway will perform a benefit concert for the Asheville Humane Society (AHS) at the White Horse in Black Mountain at 7 P.M. on October 14. At the concert, Amy will be celebrating the release of her new book, Cat Angels: The Secret Lives of Cats. Net proceeds from concert ticket sales and from the silent auction (and a percentage of books sales) will be donated to AHS.

Cat Angels, a book of photographs and stories, was inspired by a stray cat born on the Warren Wilson College campus. “St. Clair adopted us during the Swannanoa Gathering’s Guitar Week nearly a decade ago,” says Amy. “She eventually succumbed to feline leukemia, but not without first revealing a whole host of cat angels whose stories and images are featured in the book.” Cat Angels places an emphasis on shelter, foster, and rescue cats.

Amy is an award-winning composer, performer, and recording artist. Several of her musical collaborations with husband Al Petteway, a Grammy Award-winning guitarist, can be heard on the recent Ken Burns documentary about our National Parks. Her photography is represented by The National Geographic Society where her husband worked as an image editor for nearly two decades.
