Al Petteway & Amy White in Concert at Mountain Spirit

Post Date: 04.01.2011

If you’ve not heard Al Petteway and Amy White, treat yourself to an evening of their intoxicating blend of musical styles—original, traditional, contemporary Celtic and Appalachian, rock, and jazz. They will be appearing at Asheville’s Mountain Spirit Coffeehouse on Sunday evening, April 10. The concert will feature music from their new CD titled High in the Blue Ridge.

Both their recordings and live performances feature acoustic guitar, mandolin, Celtic harp, piano, banjo, lap dulcimer, world percussion, and vocals. Described as “passionate and playful,” the duo has won 50 WAMMIE Awards from the Washington Area Music Association (they used to live in DC before moving to the Asheville area), an INDIE from the Association for Independent Music, and Al won a GRAMMY from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

Al and Amy’s music was featured throughout the soundtrack of the 2009 Ken Burns EMMY-winning documentary, The National Parks: America’s Best Idea.

Their 2010 album, Caledon Wood was named one of the essential albums of the past 20 years by Acoustic Guitar Magazine.
