An Enchanted Evening of Musical Favorites in Hendersonville

Post Date: 11.01.2010

At 8 p.m. on the evenings of November 4 and 5, The Arts Council of Henderson County will present “An Enchanted Evening,” an intimate cabaret revue celebrating love songs from 1920s to the 1070s, widely regarded as the golden age of American musicals. The performances, under the musical direction of Brad Curtioff, will be Upstairs at Mike’s on Main, 305 N. Main Street in downtown Hendersonville.

Brad has provided musical direction at Asheville Community Theatre, Southern Appalachian Regional Theatre, and Mars Hill College, where he is also staff accompanist. He is a founding member of Velvet Truckstop, which specializes in original rock and blues music, and the musical director for Asheville Skyline Band, a blues revue and showcase band.

The production, conceived and directed by Francis J. Cullinan, a member of the Arts Council board, will feature popular local performers Michael Cheek, Carol Duermit and Cathy Walgenbach. The show will include songs from Showboat, Girl Crazy, Oklahoma, South Pacific, My Fair Lady, Call Me Madam, Follies, and A Little Night Music.

Tickets cost $40 per person, which includes wine and light hors d’oeuvres. Reservations are strongly recommended as there are only 40 seats available per performance.

For more information or to make reservations, call The Arts Council of Henderson County at 693.8504, email acofhc@bellsouth.net, or visit online at acofhc.org.
