Swayback Sisters Play Flat Rock’s Summer Music Series

Post Date: 09.01.2010

The Swayback Sisters will perform at a free evening music event in Flat Rock from 6–8 P.M. on Saturday, September 4. This free outdoor concert, presented by the Flat Rock Merchants Association, will be held on Little Rainbow Row’s back deck (behind the colorful shops at the corner of Greenville Highway and West Blue Ridge Road).

These “sisters” hail from Asheville and decided to join forces and create a diverse musical experiences for themselves and for their audiences. While each is an accomplished songwriter and guitar player, their magic occurs with the blending of their voices.

The Swayback Sisters (Laura Blackley, Lyndsay Wojcik, and Cary Fridley) perform mostly their own originals plus a selection of older standards and revamped covers. The result is a cappella versions of old Appalachian folksongs side by side with popular hits done the Swayback way.

This is a casual, family-oriented, bring-your-lawn-chair, outdoor event, weather permitting. Great food and beverages will be available. Off-street parking will be designated with limited handicap accessibility. The last concert of the summer season will feature the local group Peace Out on October 2.
