Fun With James Gregory at Diana Wortham Theatre
Post Date: 08.28.2010
James Gregory stood there on the stage, his shirt untucked, his arms outstretched in a carefree welcome to his down- home observations of everyday life. He brought his hilarious storytelling talent to Asheville as the Diana Wortham Theatre wraped up its “Summer at the Wortham” series this month.
The absence of vulgarity in his act sets James apart from many others. Instead, he relies on carefully crafted stories to convey his frequently off-the-wall observations. “My comedy is based on my life experiences. It’s real, it’s funny ... (it’s) why I’m still in business!” says James.
He dished up brilliant imitations on stupid relatives, obsession with the weather, and spoofing health addicts, modern parents, and out-of- control environmentalists. If you found “Chicken Soup for the Soul” just a tad too syrupy, get ready for some fun.
