Montford Park Players Shakespeare in the Park

Post Date: 08.01.2010

North Carolina’s longest-running Shakespeare festival continues with two different productions in August. All performances are free and begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings at the Hazel Robinson Amphitheatre at 100 Gay Street in Asheville.

Troilus and Cressida, William Shakespeare’s play about the Trojan War, runs from July 30 through August 22. The tale begins seven years into the long war when Troilus, the youngest son of King Priam of Troy, falls in love with Cressida, the daughter of a Trojan priest who has defected to the Greeks.

Running August 27 through September 5 is Shakesperience presented by the resident repertory company of the Montford Park Players. The cast of veteran actors promises an evening filled with great entertainment.
