From Friday, April 8, through Saturday, May 14, The Studios at Flat Rock are partnering with the WNC Design Guide to present a spring show. The WNC Design Guide Show will be open until 8 p.m. on the opening day and then during normal gallery hours Wednesday through Saturday (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and by appointment.
People are familiar with traditional galleries, says Suzanne Camarata Ball, owner of The Studios at Flat Rock. “Artists display work and buyers browse and when all align, a piece sells. It is a very static experience.” Suzanne wanted to create something different.
“I arrange visits for clients to meet the artists, often in their studios, or deliver and help decide on where the artwork should go in a space,” says Suzanne.
Her vision is shared by the 24 regional artists who comprise the WNC Design Guide who work with their clients to produce customized art for residential and commercial spaces. They work in wood, ceramics, glass, painting, basketry, and textiles. The Spring Show will feature ten of these artists, including sculptural basket artist Matt Tommey and painter Phil DeAngelo.
There will be an Artists’ Talk at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, when several of the artists will be on hand to discuss their work and answer questions.
The Studios at Flat Rock are located at 2702-A Greenville Highway in Flat Rock. For more information, visit studiosflatrock.com or call 828.698.7000.
