6-week Flame Shop: Comprehensive Beginning
March 26 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
6-week Flame Shop 1 Class
Every Thursday, March 26 – April 30
6:30 – 9pm
Fall in love with flameworking! This introductory 6-week class is meant to educate students on all facets and approaches to flameworking. We will learn and experiment with the qualities of two different types of glass, Borosilicate, aka Pyrex or “hard” glass, and Soda Lime “soft” glass, and how to best apply them to intended work. Students will learn how to safely use a table top torch to melt and form glass using a variety of metal and graphite tools to shape the molten material.
If you’ve taken an interest in flameworking, the best way to learn is to practice techniques routinely and often. With an instructor present to answer questions and give weekly demonstrations, students can take creative freedom in their practice. You will create items such as beads, marbles, pendants, sculpture, ornaments, and vessels. By immersing yourself in the process, you will acquire new skills; how to sculpt glass, work with color, surface design, and hollow forms.
Students must be 16 years of age or older.
