AYC includes the High School Chorale (grades 9-12), the Middle School Chorale (grades 7-8), the Concert Choir (grades 3-6) and the Prelude Choir (grades K-2). AYC sing in area churches, civic functions, seasonal concerts, and summer tours, offering the opportunity for children and teenagers to come together to enjoy the challenge and friendship found in creating beautiful music, thereby making a positive impact in our community and beyond.
The 2019-20 Activities of AYC will include:
• Concert with the Asheville Symphony Chorus and
• A magical Holiday Concert by all four choirs
• A mid-winter weekend retreat and mini-tour
• National Anthem at So- Con Basketball Championship
• Earth Day concert
• Performance of High Lonesome Mass with bluegrass band
As you can see, the Asheville Youth Choirs will enjoy a fantastic year this next season! The opportunity
to make music with the finest choral singers and orchestral players in our region and to make great friendships through the joy of singing will all combine to create an unforgettable experience. The audition to be a part of all of this is a simple five-minute “vocal interview” in which you will be asked to sing an unaccompanied song of your choice and to demonstrate your vocal range and ability through a series of vocal exercises. The auditions will be held at the Academy for the Arts at First Baptist Church of Asheville at 5 Oak Street in downtown. The dates are either Thursday, August 22 or August 29, 4:00-6:30 p.m. You can sign-up for a time slot of your choice by going to AshevilleYouthChoirs.org and following the “Audition Form” links. (Additional information, pictures and videos of AYC can be obtained on the website.)
