The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a four-day schedule will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Also, images should be no larger than 2000 pixels wide. Large images will prevent the event from being submitted. Please allow up to 4 days for your even to be posted. The Computer Pays its Debt Opening Reception

Join us from 6-8 pm on Friday, March 13th for an Opening Reception of “The Computer Pays its Debt: Women, Textiles and Technology, 1965-1985”, curated by 2020 Center for Craft Curatorial Fellow, Kayleigh Perkov.
“The Computer Pays its Debt” reevaluates the historic connection between information technology and textiles through the pioneering work of female artists and innovators. Works by Janice Lourie, Sonia Sheridan, Sonya Rapoport, Lia Cook, and Katherine Westphal, highlight the shared concerns and approaches that unite textiles and technology.
This event is free, accessible, and open to all. Light refreshments will be served.
