The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a month will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Also, images should be no larger than 2000 pixels wide. Large images will prevent the event from being submitted. Please allow up to 5 days for your even to be posted. Instructors: Rodney Smith and George Awad
This 10-hour (five 2-hour sessions) class is recommended for all levels of Photoshop users, from the experienced, to the beginner. In this course you will learn how to properly and creatively use Photoshop’s tools, retouch and manipulate photographic images, create composite images, use filters and effects, master text layout, and produce professional banners, ads, posters and more. Experienced Photoshop users with no formal training will also benefit from this class as tips, tricks, keyboard shortcuts, essential foundation skills, design techniques, and workflow are covered throughout this class.
Requirements: Photoshop (CS 6 or higher). A computer (with a screen). The free version of the Zoom software. A creative desire (talent optional).
Bio for Rodney Smith: Rodney Smith is an award-winning, internationally published professional photographer and graphic designer. He has been a user of PS for nearly 20 years, and has been teaching Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign for the last five years.
Bio for George Awad: George Awad is a professional graphic designer and has been in the field for over 20 years. He has spent the last 6 as an improv and theatrical performer. He has extensive, honed knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat.
