The Montford Music and Arts Festival
May 18 @ 10:00 am - 7:00 pmFree
The Montford Festival is the longest running free street fair in Asheville. This year will the the 16th annual event. The day-long activities include something for everyone. Children can browse the offerings of Snake, Rabbit and Snail Bookmobile, get a face painting or fairy hair or try some sidewalk chalk art. Every hour a new band will take the spotlight on a centrally located stage and between sets expect a visit from the Chinese Dragon who will lead an impromptu parade past the artisan and crafters’ booths lining Montford Avenue. All this takes place on the tree-lined streets of the historic Montford District, just two blocks from the Visitor’s Center and a short walk to the restaurants and activities of downtown Asheville.
