Zentangle® is an easy-to-learn, relaxing way to turn structured patterns—called “tangles”—into tiny (3.5” x 3.5”) masterpieces that can, ultimately, be assembled into a larger mosaic. In this four-week course, you will acquaint, or re-acquaint, yourself with the basics of Zentangle®. Then, you will continue to build your knowledge by learning new, more complicated tangles and working with different colored squares and pens.
In the first class, Certified Zentangle® Teacher, Susan Goodman, will review the history of the Zentangle® Method, the benefits of using good quality tools, and how to create tangles. Then, you will create two tiles to refresh or practice your Zentangle® skills.
In the second class, Susan will go into more detail about how to use “strings” to create boundaries within a paper tile, and how shading increases the depth and richness of a design. Then, you will learn several new patterns and create two additional tiles.
In the third class, you will explore shading and highlighting on Renaissance (tan) tiles. You will build upon what you’ve learned previously and learn two new patterns.
In the fourth and final class, you will play with black tiles and white pens, shading “in reverse” to create your designs. You will add two final tangles to your repertoire.
