SUMMARY:sov·er·eign·ty: Expressions in Sovereignty of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians
DESCRIPTION:On view from March 15\, 2024 through February 28\, 2025\, ‘sov·er·eign·ty: Expressions in Sovereignty of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians’ illuminates the complexities of tribal sovereignty and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians’ continuing legacy of resilience.\nFeaturing objects sourced from the Museum of the Cherokee People’s own collections\, ‘sov·er·eign·ty’ is designed to educate visitors about the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians’ autonomy\, its relationship with the federal government\, and how the tribe has defined its own relationship with its land\, people\, and culture. \nThe Museum of the Cherokee People is the tribal museum of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI)\, one of three federally recognized Cherokee tribes alongside Cherokee Nation and the United Keetowah Band of Cherokee Indians. The EBCI is a self-governed\, autonomous nation with over 16\,000 enrolled members living around the world—it has its own laws\, elections\, and government—and is the only federally recognized Tribal Nation within the boundaries of what is currently known as North Carolina. \nIn this exhibition\, visitors will learn how\, through adaptability and innovation\, the EBCI has combated attempts to eradicate\, remove\, and assimilate its people and remained on the Qualla Boundary—57\,000 acres (0.00067661% of the original Cherokee territory) which is owned by the EBCI and held in trust by the federal government.

SUMMARY:Exhibition | Forces of Nature: Ceramics from the Hayes Collection
DESCRIPTION:Ceramic artists throughout history have become masters of all four elements—creating clay from a mixture of earth and water to shape their work\, drying it in air\, and hardening it in fire. Throughout this process\, the artist decides which aspects of the work will be tightly controlled\, and when the elements can step in to leave nature’s mark. This exhibition traces the historical\, stylistic\, and conceptual origins of work that either embraces or refuses the element of chance in ceramics\, looking at modern and contemporary work made in Western North Carolina.

SUMMARY:Exhibition | Ginny Ruffner Reforestation of the Imagination
DESCRIPTION:The Asheville Art Museum is pleased to present Ginny Ruffner’s Reforestation of the Imagination\, organized and toured by the Smithsonian American Art Museum. The exhibition imagines an apocalyptic landscape of withered plant forms that come to life when activated with augmented reality. In collaboration with animator and media artist Grant Kirkpatrick\, Ruffner illuminates the delicate balance between nature and the artificial human-built world around us\, putting forth an optimistic hope for the future: that technology can be a means to understand and help save the earth from environmental devastation. Visitors can download the free app “Reforestation” on their phones or use the iPads in the gallery to bring this second reality to life.

SUMMARY:Exhibition: The Farm at Black Mountain College
DESCRIPTION:Built on more than a decade’s worth of deep\, original archival research\, this exhibition will constitute a comprehensive new history of Black Mountain College. By focusing on the farm\, the exhibition sidesteps the popular paradigm of approaching BMC through its famous faculty and students\, and instead offers a new cast of characters\, one that includes mostly students\, women\, and farmers. It spotlights the importance of collaboration\, both on campus among students\, faculty\, and faculty families\, and in the community with farmers and organizations in nearby cities and towns. Finally\, the exhibition shows what happens when communal living is no longer communal\, and offers the first ever detailed account of the fall of the college\, a dramatic and often dangerous story. \nThe opening reception and a keynote lecture will take place in conjunction with BMCM+AC’s annual ReVIEWING conference hosted at UNC Asheville. Exhibition themes will correspond to the chapters of co-curator David Silver’s book on this topic\, to be published in conjunction with the exhibition in partnership with Atelier Editions. \nCurated by David Silver and Bruce Johansen

This is normal and not a cause for concern. Here is an article explaining dormancy in plants. \nFor the full species descriptions or to sign up to receive an email notification when the sale goes live\, please visit the event page. \nPlants that are found here inspire a “sense of place” and pride in our mountain communities and promote wise stewardship and conservation of natural resources. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a healing journey into altered states of consciousness as we flow through brain wave states with soundscapes & energy work! \nThe Innerdance is a music-based\, meditative\, healing journey. It involves the use of special soundscapes that mimic circadian rhythms and enable people to move effortlessly between different brain wave states. As a result\, people experience an expanded sense of awareness and altered states of consciousness that support conditions for self-healing\, as old paradigms change and new ways of being emerge. \nIn this space of unlimited possibilities\, very profound and mystical things can happen. Common ‘movements’ in the Innerdance include drug-free psychedelic experiences\, past life regressions\, lucid dream-like states\, near-death experiences\, kundalini activations\, synesthesia\, non-dual awareness\, and womb/birth memories. \nBenefits may include nervous system regulation\, circadian rhythm reset\, mental clarity\, inner peace\, greater neural plasticity\, increased intuitive discernment\, emotional regulation\, improved self-esteem\, deep insight\, and enhanced sensory perception. \nLearn More on my YouTube Channel: @linda.innerdance \nMy Innerdance Experience \n \nUnexpected Things That Can Happen In The Innerdance \n \nThe Innerdance Soundscapes vs Sound Baths \n \nINVESTMENT $45\n(Advance Tickets available for purchase from The Horse Shoe Farm only) \nTo register\, please visit \nhttps://thehorseshoefarm.com/upcoming-events \nTo purchase advance tickets\, please call 828.393.3034 \nDATES:\nWednesdays 6:00pm – 7:30pm\nSeptember 4\, 18\nOctober 2\, 16\, 30\nNovember 13\, 27\nDecember 11 \nEvent will take place at The Horse Shoe Farm in The Sanctuary.
