SUMMARY:Stories From the Storm: A free writing workshop led by Lauren Graeber
DESCRIPTION:Hurricane Helene roared through our region and blew apart our lives in ways both monumental and mundane. If you’ve struggled to put your experiences of Helene into words – and you’d really like to – this workshop is designed to help you tell your stories from the storm. Participants will work through guided writing exercises each session to gather and articulate their memories of Helene and its aftermath. Sessions are designed to help you begin writing rather than to construct a finished narrative for publication (though we’ll be generating a lot of material that you could work with). No formal writing experience is necessary and no sharing will be required. \nThursdays • 1-2pm \nMarch 6\, 13\, 20 \nAges 18+ \nFREE and open to the public

SUMMARY:Learning to Dance with Dementia
DESCRIPTION:Dementia Workshop Rescheduled for March 13\, 2025 \nLearning to Dance with Dementia: When to Lead\, When to Follow and When to Get Out of the Way \nOriginally scheduled in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Helene\, this free dementia workshop will now be held from 1-3:30 p.m. Thursday\, March 13\, 2025\, in the Parish Hall of The Episcopal Church of St. John in the Wilderness. \nUnlock the secrets to compassionate and effective dementia care at this workshop with Mary Donnelly\, a dynamic dementia consultant. This interactive session offers insight and strategies to help caregivers navigate the delicate balance of communicating with a person whose brain is changing. \nDiscover how to harmonize your approach with the unique needs of the person in your care\, fostering a more fulfilling less stressful care-giving experience.
