DESCRIPTION:The Asheville Art Museum presents Anti Form: Robert Morris’s Earth Projects. The suite of lithographic drawings by Robert Morris presents a series of ideas for ten works of art shaped out of earth\, atmospheric conditions\, and built environments. Created in 1969\, the series marks an important moment when artists began to reimagine what art could be. The works in Identitas examine culture & heritage through personal narratives\, reflecting each included artist’s distinctly unique perspective on self and experience. Paradoxically\, the word “identity” comes from the Latin “identitas” meaning “sameness\,” a profound reminder that at our core we are more similar than divergent.

DESCRIPTION:Join MountainTrue and a panel of experts to discuss recovery in our area after the devastation of Hurricane Helene. Panelists will address the impacts of natural disasters\, what recovery means for our region and how the community can support these efforts. \nThis event is free of charge\, but if you feel moved to make a donation to support critical work in our area\, we invite you to do so when you register. The North Carolina Arboretum is generously donating use of the Education Auditorium for this event. All donations associated with the registration of this event will be split 50/50 with the NC Arboretum. Click here to learn more about the NC Arboretum. \nThe event will kick-off with social time from 5:30 to 6 pm with snacks and beverages provided for attendees. The panel will run from 6 to 7:30 pm. \nTickets for this event are capped at 160\, so you must pre-register to attend. Participants may submit questions to be vetted for the panel through the registration form. Due to time constraints\, not all questions will be included.

He is a Fulbright fellow\, North Carolina Arts Council Fellow and an award-winning composer. Finn has been featured on PBS\, MTV\, TEDx\, Avianca in-flight entertainment and multiple times on NPR’s The Thistle & Shamrock. His 2016 album Roots (featuring Cillian Vallely of Lúnasa and John Doyle) debuted at number #46 on the folk DJ charts.  He has toured internationally and headlined several Irish festivals.  \nAward winning musician and singer\, David McKindley-Ward has made a name for himself as a recording and touring multi-instrumentalist in the folk\, roots and traditional music scenes across the US\, Ireland and the UK. He is a regular performer and instructor at Irish music teaching festivals including O’Flaherty’s Irish Retreat\, Atlanta Irish Fest\, Baltimore Tradfest\, Celtic Fest Mississippi\, the Ashokan Center\, The Philadelphia Céilí Group Traditional Irish music and Dance Weekend\, the Augusta Irish Retreat and the Catskills Irish Arts Week. In the fall of 2024 he released a double album with longtime friend\, collaborator and songwriter Letitia VanSant called The Eye of the Storm.

He has opened for Kyle Kinane\, Bobcat Goldthwait\, Rory Scovel\, Sarah Sherman from SNL\, Johnny Pemberton\, Hari Kondabolu\, rapper Open Mike Eagle\, DJ Doug Pound & David Leibe Hart from Tim & Eric\, various punk bands with silly names\, and a guy at an open mic who tried to throw his father’s ashes into the crowd. He has recorded 2 albums\, written a zine\, and filmed a pilot for an Amazon Prime stand up show that was lost to history. He’s funny.
