SUMMARY:Our Living Record at Revolve Gallery
DESCRIPTION:A multimedia exhibit honoring queer and trans archives\, memory\, and resistance \nAsheville\, NC – Our Living Record\, a new exhibition from Southern Equality Studios – – the art program of The Campaign for Southern Equality\, on view starting July 10 through August 17\, 2025 at Revolve Gallery (821 Riverside Dr. Asheville\, NC 28801). This vibrant and deeply personal show features artwork from Southern LGBTQ+ community members and allies who explore preserving queer memory in the face of cultural erasure. \nThe exhibition includes photography\, sculpture\, projection\, ephemera\, and participatory archival interactive installations. Each piece reflects how personal objects\, imagery\, and memories connect to the broader story of LGBTQ+ resilience\, resistance\, and joy. \n“Queer and trans histories are often fragmented or excluded from dominant narratives\,” says curator Liz Williams. “Our Living Record asks: what happens when we tell our stories ourselves—through our photos\, our letters\, our zines\, our everyday rituals? This exhibition is a gathering of those fragments. A way to say: we were here\, we are here and we will sustain and remain.” \nFeatured artists include:\nLenny Kyriakoulis\, Kass Patterson \, Daniel Simone\, Crain Cutler\, Eduardo Moraes de Oliveira Barbosa\, Amanda Simons\, Lindsay Jones\, and Jeannie Regan \nThe exhibition also includes community-sourced materials\, family snapshots\, protest signs\, and objects from queer everyday life. An Archival Activation Event will take place on July 30\, featuring storytelling\, readings\, an interactive archive activation for WNC LGBTQIA+ Archive Project. \nArtists and community members were asked to submit personal photos\, letters\, or historical ephemera that could be projected onto them during their portrait session—creating an image that literally places history on the body. Each participant also sat for a filmed interview sharing why their items matter\, what stories need to be preserved\, and what message they want to pass on to future generations. \nOur Living Record is supported by Southern Equality Studios\, a project of the Campaign for Southern Equality. Revolve Gallery is located at 821 Riverside Drive #179 in Asheville’s River Arts District. Admission is free and open to the public during gallery hours. \nFor interviews\, press images\, or event information\, please contact Liz Williams at liz@southernequality.org.

SUMMARY:CMS of the Carolinas presents: Bohemian Rhapsody
DESCRIPTION:Program:\nFranz Krommer: Quartet No. 2 in F major for oboe & strings (1780-90)\nGeorg Druschetzky: Quartet in G minor for oboe & strings\nFolk Song Suite\, arr. Nathan Mondry\nSelections by Katerina Victoria Dusikova-Cianchettini for String Trio\nWolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Quartet for oboe and strings in F major\, K.370 (1781)\nDon’t miss the CMS Carolinas début of the nationally acclaimed period instrument ensemble Les Délices\, performing an innovative and thoughtful program celebrating Bohemian composers from the late 18th and early 19th centuries.\nBohemian Rhapsody celebrates the music of Bohemian composers from the late 18th and early 19th centuries – a time when the Czech lands were provinces of the Habsburg Empire. Rarely-heard chamber music by Czech and Moravian composers Franz Krommer\, Georg Druschetzky\, and Katerina Victoria Dusikova-Cianchettin will illuminate a little-known history that explores underlying themes of separation\, nostalgia\, and homecoming. Also featured is a recently commissioned arrangement of Czech and Moravian folk songs by New York City-based composer and harpsichordist Nathan Mondry that asks\, what might it have sounded like if these late-18th and early-19th century composers from the Czech lands had been able to more openly celebrate their heritage in their music? These fun and fascinating works for oboe\, violin\, viola\, and cello are paired with Mozart’s sublime oboe quartet\, KV370.
