SUMMARY:Our Living Record at Revolve Gallery
DESCRIPTION:A multimedia exhibit honoring queer and trans archives\, memory\, and resistance \nAsheville\, NC – Our Living Record\, a new exhibition from Southern Equality Studios – – the art program of The Campaign for Southern Equality\, on view starting July 10 through August 17\, 2025 at Revolve Gallery (821 Riverside Dr. Asheville\, NC 28801). This vibrant and deeply personal show features artwork from Southern LGBTQ+ community members and allies who explore preserving queer memory in the face of cultural erasure. \nThe exhibition includes photography\, sculpture\, projection\, ephemera\, and participatory archival interactive installations. Each piece reflects how personal objects\, imagery\, and memories connect to the broader story of LGBTQ+ resilience\, resistance\, and joy. \n“Queer and trans histories are often fragmented or excluded from dominant narratives\,” says curator Liz Williams. “Our Living Record asks: what happens when we tell our stories ourselves—through our photos\, our letters\, our zines\, our everyday rituals? This exhibition is a gathering of those fragments. A way to say: we were here\, we are here and we will sustain and remain.” \nFeatured artists include:\nLenny Kyriakoulis\, Kass Patterson \, Daniel Simone\, Crain Cutler\, Eduardo Moraes de Oliveira Barbosa\, Amanda Simons\, Lindsay Jones\, and Jeannie Regan \nThe exhibition also includes community-sourced materials\, family snapshots\, protest signs\, and objects from queer everyday life. An Archival Activation Event will take place on July 30\, featuring storytelling\, readings\, an interactive archive activation for WNC LGBTQIA+ Archive Project. \nArtists and community members were asked to submit personal photos\, letters\, or historical ephemera that could be projected onto them during their portrait session—creating an image that literally places history on the body. Each participant also sat for a filmed interview sharing why their items matter\, what stories need to be preserved\, and what message they want to pass on to future generations. \nOur Living Record is supported by Southern Equality Studios\, a project of the Campaign for Southern Equality. Revolve Gallery is located at 821 Riverside Drive #179 in Asheville’s River Arts District. Admission is free and open to the public during gallery hours. \nFor interviews\, press images\, or event information\, please contact Liz Williams at liz@southernequality.org.

SUMMARY:Bindings Art Exhibit with Randy Siegel at North Asheville Library
DESCRIPTION:Scraps of fabric\, rope\, string\, wire\, and thread\, along with obsessive stitching and often beading\, obscure and obstruct hidden aspects of self often too painful to acknowledge and to beautiful to ignore. With each wrap\, knot\, and stitch\, the creative process has been a mediation and ritual—a holy sacrament of confession\, absolution\, and integration as shadow aspects of self are brought to light\, acceptance\, and love.

SUMMARY:Elizabeth Alexander: From The Book Of Time
DESCRIPTION:Tracey Morgan Gallery is pleased to present our first solo exhibition with\nmultimedia artist Elizabeth Alexander. Please join us for a reception for\nthe Artist on Saturday\, August 16 from 6-8PM. \nPulling from a wide array of source materials\, Alexander recontextualizes\nobjects traditionally associated with domesticity such as wallpaper\,\nupholstered furniture\, and porcelain ware\, probing at the societal\,\nhistorical\, and personal meanings embedded within. Her meticulously\nrendered works reveal the many contradictions lurking beneath\nthe surface of lovely\, docile appearances. \nThe title of the exhibition\, taken from a poem by Mary Oliver\, describes the feeling of relief when a storm is visible\, but distant. Like the poem\, there is evidence of time passing and changing the contents of this show: figures sit idly in images while they dissolve\, porcelain tableware is worn down into delicate shells\, floral decor is dying before one’s eyes. Alexander blends scavenged domestic forms and floral decor with cast storm debris to imbue objects of order and comfort with the unpredictability and slow evolution of the natural world. Within these ‘beautiful disasters’ she works to bring forth the increasing vulnerability within our surroundings often hidden among the pleasantries. Her work envisions\nthe humanity embedded within our surroundings and uncovers the porousness of our walls and the interconnectivity we often forget (or ignore) is there. \nElizabeth Alexander holds degrees in sculpture from the Cranbrook Academy\, MFA\, and Massachusetts College of Art\, BFA\, where she discovered the complex nature of dissecting objects of nostalgia. Her work has exhibited across the country at institutions including the Museum of Art and Design\, the National Museum of Women in the Arts\, the North Carolina Museum of Art\, the Southeast Center for Contemporary Art\, the Nasher Museum at Duke University\, and the Currier Museum. It is included in permanent collections at the Crystal Bridges Museum\, Bentonville\, AR; Fidelity; and the Mint Museum\, Charlotte\, NC. She is currently an Associate Professor and the Sculpture Department\nCoordinator at Montserrat College of Art\, Beverly\, MA. \nAll image requests and inquiries\, contact info@traceymorgangallery.com

SUMMARY:Mikey Lion w/s/g Klaws @ Third Room
DESCRIPTION:WHERE: Third Room\nWHEN: Saturday August 16\, 2025\nDOORS: 9pm SHOW: 10pm\nGENRE: house / tech‑house\nTICKETS: $28 early bird ga / $33 ga \nPURCHASE: https://tixr.com/e/151340 \nMikey Lion:\nWEBSITE: https://deserthearts.us/artist/mikeylion\nHEAR SOME MUSIC: https://soundcloud.com/mikeylion\nSEE A VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JSyQiHPpW0 \nPart mythical desert harlequin\, part modern soul conductor\, Mikey Lion is more than a DJ––He’s a freak of nature and a controller of energy. The San Diego-native has earned a dusty mystique over the past few years as the center of the Desert Hearts movement and as a house and techno provocateur with a stage presence that suggests he will ride this wave all the way to the top. If there’s one thing Mikey does well\, it’s get the party started. \nLion has brought the mothafuckin’ ruckus to the stages of Lightning in a Bottle\, the dustiest storms at Burning Man\, and The Do LaB at Coachella\, earning nods from Claude VonStroke\, Jamie Jones\, and Green Velvet in the process. In doing so\, Lion and his signature top hat have developed a boisterous voice in the House & Techno scene with strong tribal\, hip-hop\, and psychedelic elements.
