Market St. Downtown Asheville* \nTired Souls opens in Montgomery\, Alabama on December 1\, 1955 – the day Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a city bus to a white man. Her determination was the catalyst that inspired Montgomery’s black citizens to abandon all travel on city buses until they were no longer forced to sit in the back or stand when a white person boarded. But there were others who came before Mrs. Parks and laid the groundwork for this pivotal moment. Tired Souls introduces audiences to Jo Ann Robinson\, Claudette Colvin\, and others so instrumental in lighting a fire under the Civil Rights movement and changing the course of U.S. history forever. \nJoin us for a Q&A with playwright and performer Mike Wiley following each performance.

HarvestFest is a celebration of local farmers\, community and music. Doors open at 3pm with family games and activities and live music.\nIn honor of our local farmers and all they do to sustain our community\, all farmers and their families will have free entry to the event. All ticket proceeds will go towards the ASAP Double SNAP for Fruits and Vegetables program. ASAP’s Double SNAP for Fruits and Vegetables program offers a match on dollars spent by SNAP customers at participating farmers markets with tokens that can be used for produce. Many EBT shoppers explained that the program eases concerns over having enough food each month. Farmers market managers and vendors also noted the benefits of the program. Many note that this leads to ongoing relationships with shoppers and allows them to grow their business with loyal customers.We are honored to have the opportunity to celebrate and support this great program with a fun filled day of music\, activities\, and nature. SUMMARY:Leon Timbo & The Family Band
DESCRIPTION:Hendersonville Theatre welcomes Leon Timbo & the Family Band as August’s intimate HT’s Hometown Sound Music Series concert! For country-soul singer-songwriter Leon Timbo\, music is used as a form of growth and healing. Timbo’s country sound incorporates equal measures of vintage soul\, gospel\, folk\, R&B\, and even modern blues making for a unique experience that some have described as “transparent soul.” \nSome write music as a creative release. Others feel compelled to perform. For country-soul singer-songwriter Leon Timbo\, music is used as a form of growth and healing. The son of parents who are both church pastors\, Timbo was raised in Jacksonville\, Florida. He began pursuing music seriously at 16 and by age twenty\, he began playing the guitar and performing in clubs\, inspired by artists Bill Withers\, James Taylor\, and Tim Miner. He was discover by R&B superstar Tyrese Gibson\, who asked the budding musician to open for him at the Dallas House of Blues. Tyrese introduced Timbo to GRAMMY-winning vocalist and producer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds\, who signed Timbo to a record deal and took him on the road\, cementing Timbo’s rapidly expanding career as one of the major young artists reclaiming American roots music’s association with the Black experience in the 21st century. \nAfter years of spreading his Gospel roots\, Timbo set his eyes on Country and Americana territory with his 2021 release\, Lovers and Fools. The album explored themes of love\, loss\, and letting go. Timbo released the follow-up\, Lovers and Fools Vol 2\, in June 2022. He also released a Christmas album\, Carols of Love and Healing\, in 2022. \nTimbo is currently on the road supporting his new music and has just finished touring with two-time Grammy Award®–winning bassist\, Marcus Miller\, during his residency with Blue Note New York.
