DESCRIPTION:“Looking Back To Move Forward” features the work of fifty three artists (thirty eight students\, nine alumni\, five faculty and one staff) who created work addressing both the devastation and the ongoing recovery – compelled to investigate\, reflect\, mourn and raise awareness of the many issues the storm revealed.  \nThis exhibition is a collaboration between Art students\, faculty\, and alumni and faculty and students in Environmental Studies\, Economics\, and Biology\, and is part of the Post-Helene Symposium that the university is hosting September 23 – 27\, 2025. A panel discussion with several artists will be moderated by Susan Andrew of Riverlink\, a local non-profit who was heavily involved in clean-up and restoration efforts.

DESCRIPTION:Hellbender Gathering of Poets Presents: An Afternoon with Poet Jane Hirshfield\nOctober 5 @ 1:00 pm – 5:30 pm \nWriting “some of the most important poetry in the world today” (The New York\nTimes)\, Jane Hirshfield is one of American poetry’s central spokespersons for\nconcerns of the biosphere. Her honors include fellowships from the Guggenheim\nand Rockefeller Foundations\, an NEA\, the Poetry Center Book Award\, the\nCalifornia Book Award\, long listing for the National Book Award\, and finalist\nselection for the National Book Critics Circle Award. A former Chancellor of\nthe Academy of American Poets\, Hirshfield was elected in 2019 into the\nAmerican Academy of Arts & Sciences. \nIn 2017\, she founded Poets for Science in conjunction with the first March for\nScience in Washington\, D.C. The interactive project (hosted at Kent State’s Wick\nPoetry Center) has been installed across the country at universities\, museums\, and\nresearch centers\, and\, we’re proud to announce\, will be on display at the\nArboretum for this event. \nWelcome reception at 1:00 pm\, ET\, followed by reading and book signing at 2:30 pm. Between them\, they laid the foundation—unshakably cool and warmly welcoming.   \nJazz Is for Everyone is a series of five one-hour sessions exploring jazz music. Come to one or join them all—each session stands on its own and welcomes listeners at any level.  \nWhat You’ll Experience:  \nGuided listening\nLive music demonstrations\nStories that connect the music to people\, places\, and intent\nA space for questions\, curiosity\, and shared discovery  \nJeremy Walker launched Jazz Is for Everyone in 2004 at his Brilliant Corners Jazz Club\, with Wynton Marsalis serving as Artistic Advisor. The program was developed as an Educational Affiliate with Jazz at Lincoln Center. Only Holmes can solve the case\, going so far as to disguise himself as an early version of Lady Bracknell from Wilde’s latest play\, The Importance of Being Forthright. At the same time\, Watson falls head-over-heels for the Jersey Lily\, and a wicked professor attempts to bring the Crown to its knees.
