SUMMARY:Evon Streetman: Reflections
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition of vintage photographs by Evon Streetman.  \nEvon Streetman is a seminal figure in Southern photography whose experimental approach helped define the trajectory of contemporary photo-based art in the region. Initially trained as a painter\, she was an early pioneer in incorporating painterly processes and handwork into her photographs. She embraces the materiality of the photographic surface through interventions such as hand-coloring\, airbrushing\, and the application of gold and silver leaf. Her images often blur the line between documentation and transformation\, evoking a sense of place that is both intimate and enigmatic. \nStreetman’s work emerged alongside a broader movement of artists who redefined photography as a fine art medium\, including Clarissa Sligh\, William Christenberry\, and Eugene Meatyard. Like her contemporaries\, Streetman’s work explores memory and place\, remaining deeply rooted in the Southern landscape. \nIn addition to her artistic practice\, Streetman was an impactful educator. She assisted in developing the photography curriculum at Florida State University and later founded the photography program at the Penland School of Craft. Her work remains a standard in the study of alternative photographic practices and the visual culture of the American South.

DESCRIPTION:– LIMITED PATIO SEATING IS FIRST COME FIRST SERVE \n5J Barrow\nInspiration seeped through the windows of apartment 5J on Barrow Street looking out over the Hudson River in NYC’s Greenwich Village\, where singer-songwriters and Broadway performers\, Eryn Murman and Jason Hite\, soaked up the energy and passion of musicians\, painters\, poets and writers who created the Village vibe. Together\, they paid tribute to those creative spirits and named their band 5j Barrow\, writing music and lyrics with a unique folk/rock sound\, touring as a duo\, and often picking up Drew Jones on bass and Gerard Canonico on drums. The band has inspired audiences with soulful music\, evocative imagery\, and lyrics that touch the heart\, from the historic Apollo Theater to the open air of Washington Square Park\, from the streets of New Orleans to the Rocky Mountains\, from California wine country to New England forests.

SUMMARY:Jake Blount
DESCRIPTION:Jake Blount is a performer and scholar of Black folk music based in Providence\, RI. Initially recognized for his skill as a string band musician\, Blount has synthesized his scholarly and artistic pursuits into a diverse performance practice that has taken him to Carnegie Hall\, Newport Folk Festival\, NPR’s Tiny Desk\, and beyond. His albums\, released on Free Dirt Records and Smithsonian Folkways Recordings\, have been featured in best-of lists from NPR\, The New Yorker\, and Rolling Stone. His scholarly publications include “Jail the Zombie: Black Banjoists\, Biopolitics\, and Archives\,” published in Modern American History. He also served as a music consultant for the movie Sinners\, and performed on the soundtrack of Ken Burns’s The American Revolution. Blount holds an A.M. in Musicology and Ethnomusicology from Brown University\, where he is working toward a Ph.D. in the same and a second master’s degree in Anthropology. A new string band record is forthcoming in September 2026.
