This exhibition will explore how puppetry can engage the imagination of audiences of all ages\, while sharing the process of puppet construction and showcasing Ford’s contributions to the craft. \nWinner of the UNIMA Citation for Excellence and 3 Jim Henson Foundation grants\, Hobey Ford is known for his excellence in puppetry performance and craft and his skill as a master storyteller. The hike is about 3.5 miles total round-trip\, and is considered easy to moderate terrain. \nWe will walk along the Three Lakes Trail and Conservation Road. Along the way\, we will traverse through one of our Hemlock Conservation Areas (HCAs). We will cover the ecological importance of hemlocks in riparian areas\, what is threatening them\, what is being done about it\, and more. \nThis HCA is very special\, as it is a site of active Integrated Pest Management (IPM)- it is managed using many different methods to protect our hemlocks from HWA. These methods include chemical\, biological\, and silvicultural controls. We will pass through active research plots and discuss the work that is being done to find the best way(s) to protect our hemlocks for years to come. \nPlease note that although the trail is open and clear\, some overhead hazards remain present. \nWe’ll meet at the DSRF visitors center.
