Whether you’re a dabbler\, drawer\, painter\, printmaker\, or mixed-media artist\, cold wax offers rich possibilities for experimentation and expressive mark-making. \nTypically mixed with small amounts of oil paint\, cold wax can also be used in collage and other mixed-media work. Depending on how it is used\, it can create everything from smooth\, luminous transparencies to richly textured surfaces. Throughout the day we’ll work with color and pigment\, opacity and transparency\, layering\, texture\, and a variety of mark-making techniques while gaining a deeper understanding of the medium.\nDenby will introduce both traditional and unexpected tools for working with cold wax\, discuss compatible materials and surfaces\, studio safety and drying agents\, and demonstrate a variety of approaches that participants can continue to explore in their own creative practice. \nThe day begins with demonstrations and guided exercises before moving into individual studio time.
