SUMMARY:Craft-itarianism: Community Action Through Craft
DESCRIPTION:The word craft-itarianism was coined by 2026 Center for Craft Curatorial Fellow Alyssa Velazquez to name artistic projects that generate employment\, raise awareness\, or offer therapeutic support through craft. These programs provide a space where people affected by addiction\, incarceration\, and gun violence can find solidarity while learning a skill. \nCraft-itarianism: Community Action Through Craft celebrates nonprofits and artists who believe in—and actively practice—the power of craft to support and empower individuals and communities. \nThis exhibition was curated by 2026 Center for Craft Curatorial Fellow Alyssa Velazquez. Launched in 2017\, the Curatorial Fellowship supports emerging curators exploring new ideas about craft with mentorship\, professional development\, and a $5\,000 honorarium to realize an exhibition. \nOn view February 27\, 2026–September 27\, 2026

SUMMARY:Rooftop Comedy featuring Jeremy Alder
DESCRIPTION:Modelface Comedy brings the best comedians from all over the country to Asheville\, NC. This week we are excited to have Jeremy Alder from Raleigh! \nChemist Spirts welcomes a group of Asheville top comedians for a night of laughs. Enjoy a stunning AVL sunset from the rooftop bar at Antidote while giggling and sipping a classic cocktail. \nJeremy Alder is a warm\, dry\, delightfully irreverent comedian with the vibe of a former church kid finally saying\, “Y’all aren’t ready for this conversation… but here we go.” Raised homeschooled in a deeply religious Texas family\, he now turns that world into quietly audacious\, deceptively sharp comedy—exploring faith\, doubt\, marriage\, parenting\, and growing up “Texas” with a calm\, precise delivery that draws audiences into conversations they didn’t expect but can’t stop laughing through. \nHeadlining nationwide\, Jeremy has built a growing platform to match his growing following: his Dry Bar Comedy special has earned over 7 million views\, he’s been featured on Nate Bargatze’s Nateland Presents\, and he’s in regular rotation on SiriusXM. His debut album\, Almost a Grown Man\, and his online series\, Christians Who Don’t Suck\, showcase the same probing humor that’s cemented his place as comedy’s favorite soft-spoken agent of chaos. If you like your comedy hilarious\, thoughtful\, and a little spicy\, Jeremy’s your guy. \nages 21+\nDoors at 7:30pm\, show at 8pm\nTickets $18

But as the conversation deepens\, something starts to feel off and the the test transforms into something that neither could have expected. \n“After Helene” \nDirected by: Zoe Miller \nAfter Helene highlights the aftermath of Hurricane Helene on northwestern North Carolina almost 2 years later. This documentary shows the perseverance through community. \n“Unheard Voice” \nDirected by: Joseph S. S. Galyean \nWhen a weapon is discovered in the sandy refuges of the beach\, a story of untamed trauma and inevitable destruction unfolds. \n“Forget Me Not” \nDirected by: Michelle Bucci & Danielle Herrera Boivin \nWhen a fracture in the multiverse tears them from their parallel lives\, a guarded go-go dancer and a spirited cocktail waitress are thrust into a garden between realities—where they must confront the forces that have kept them trapped before they’re pulled back for good. \n“Bloom” \nDirected by: Zachary Gladwin \nAfter a young man awakes from a hypnotic trance in a strange land he must search high and low for a way to escape his lonely existence. Will his curiosity and ingenuity be able to withstand repeated failures and the familiar draw to complacency\, or will he find a way to break through his limits and explore the great beyond? \n“The Drive” \nDirected by: Brody Atticus Van Arnam \nWeeks before leaving Asheville for college\, Danny is surprised when his best friend Jack presents him with a broken-down car- their dream project to restore together. As their opposing views of the future strain their friendship\, Danny leaves\, only to return after a devastating storm claims Jack’s life.
