SUMMARY:Stories From the Storm: A free writing workshop led by Lauren Graeber
DESCRIPTION:Hurricane Helene roared through our region and blew apart our lives in ways both monumental and mundane. If you’ve struggled to put your experiences of Helene into words – and you’d really like to – this workshop is designed to help you tell your stories from the storm. Participants will work through guided writing exercises each session to gather and articulate their memories of Helene and its aftermath. Sessions are designed to help you begin writing rather than to construct a finished narrative for publication (though we’ll be generating a lot of material that you could work with). No formal writing experience is necessary and no sharing will be required. \nThursdays • 1-2pm \nMarch 6\, 13\, 20 \nAges 18+ \nFREE and open to the public

SUMMARY:She Has A Voice - Junior League of Asheville
DESCRIPTION:Women seeking a bold and confident approach to their business and profession\, know creating meaningful connections is key to gaining respect\, making sales\, and building a tribe of supportive colleagues\, clients and team members. That requires confidence\, calm\, and the ability to present a compelling and well-articulated vision for the work the Junior League does in Buncombe County.\nWomen are especially vulnerable to beliefs rooted in cultural conditioning\, to play small\, speak softly and accommodate others. This belief system manifests itself in our posture\, how we show up\, and in how we frame our conversations and presentations.\nIn “She Has a Voice” Barrie leads attendees through interactive practices to help embody confidence\, express authenticity\, and articulate a compelling message. Barrie believes in living boldly. She knows you have something to say and she wants to help you say it!\n In this 2-hr. session\, attendees will:\nImprove and expand speaking skills.\nUnderstand how non-verbal communication undermines authority.\nApply proven methods to turn down nervousness and amplify poise and presence.\nLearn and apply the framework of crafting a speech\nUnderstand and utilize the persuasive power of stories.

SUMMARY:Identitas
DESCRIPTION:Tracey Morgan Gallery is pleased to present the group exhibition Identitas\, with work by Erika Diamond\, Marcus Dunn\, vanessa german\, Luis Alvaro Sahagun\, Daniel Simone\, & Liz Trader Williams. The works in Identitas examine culture & heritage through personal narratives\, reflecting each included artist’s distinctly unique perspective on self and experience. Paradoxically\, the word “identity” comes from the Latin “identitas” meaning “sameness\,” a profound reminder that at our core we are more similar than divergent.
