SUMMARY:Dashing Through The Snow
DESCRIPTION:By Jessie Jones\, Nicholas Hope\, and Jamie Wooten\nPresented by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing\, LLC\, servicing the Dramatists Play Service collection. (www.dramatists.com) \nDecember 11-21\, 2025 \nThursday\, 12/11 at 7:30 (pay what you can available 11/27)\nFridays at 7:30\nSaturday at 3 pm\nSundays at 3 pm \nDirector: Abigail Dover Thomas \nApproximate Run Time: 2 hours\, 35 minutes\nRating: PG due to adult content and mild language. \nFour days before Christmas in Tinsel\, Texas\, a colorful parade of eccentric guests arrive at the Snowflake Inn and deck the halls with holiday hilarity. Trina\, the harried yet upbeat innkeeper of this B&B\, has more than she can handle coping with these nuttier-than-a-fruitcake lodgers. Hoyt and his sister\, Donna Jo\, make the mistake of trying to end a thirty-year feud between their curmudgeonly aunts\, Ennis and Della\, with sidesplitting results. Ainsley and Lenora\, self-involved actors from a lower-than-low-budget touring production of A Christmas Carol\, descend on the Inn to fulfill a promise\, leaving comedic chaos in their wake. Add to this Yuletide mayhem an ill-advised romantic rendezvous between Mrs. Claus and one of Santa’s elves. This demanding guest refuses to leave\, not to mention a tipsy housekeeper\, and it will take more than a kiss under the mistletoe to keep Trina’s spirits merry and bright. But a spur-of-the-moment Christmas Eve wedding that brings together the fabulous Futrelle sisters—Honey Raye\, Twink\, Frankie\, and Rhonda Lynn—and their best friend\, Raynerd\, takes a surprising and delightful turn that leads to a laugh-’till-your-sides-ache climax\, changing all their lives forever.

I will be joined by fellow pianist Philip Liston-Kraft from Boston in this fantastic program that will get you in the spirit of the holidays with a truly virtuosic ballet of twenty fingers on a single piano. \nThe Weiser/Liston-Kraft Piano Duo has been described as “simply a force of pianistic energy” who play with “a seamless and tightly knit unity\,” and who “absolutely smoke the 88 keys.” They have been bringing their captivating\, virtuosic\, and high energy performances to audiences across the U.S. for over twenty years. Most certainly the only piano duo who both attended Harvard Law School\, Weiser and Liston-Kraft bring a flair for the dramatic and a high-wire musical choreography that make their concerts a visual and sonic spectacle.

They’re unhinged\, uncensored\, and unforgettable. The Unteachables bring you a night of comedy and unfiltered QnA. Known to you as the students who were always the loud kids in the back of the classroom\, the Unteachables are a group of stand-up comedians who just happened to fall backwards into educating America’s youth. Their material extends far beyond just the chaos that exists in their classroom. They offer authentic comedy to everyone\, regardless of if they’ve worked in education\, need a break from reality\, or just love to laugh. The Unteachables have been featured on NBC\, The Breakfast Club\, The New York Post\, and the Roast Battle League. \nStephen Taylor \nOriginally a Louisiana native\, Stephen moved to Kansas City to escape his traditional southern roots. Combining his unique perspective with some interesting stories and some sweet southern charm\, Stephen headlines and features at your favorite clubs\, bars\, and colleges across the country\, as well as his own classroom. He has been featured on The Breakfast Club\, The New York Post\, and at San Francisco Sketchfest. His debut album ‘The Bottom Half’ was number one on iTunes and can be heard on Sirius XM \nLou Pharis \nRaised in the non-famous parts of Louisiana\, Lou Pharis never thought he’d be anything more than an NFL caliber offensive lineman. After failing to go pro and then losing out on American Ninja Warrior\, Lou turned his talents to the public education system. A particularly rough day at school made Lou sign up for his first open mic when he realized there’s a teacher shortage\, so he couldn’t be fired for doing comedy. SUMMARY:Random Act Productions Presents "A Christmas Carol" at NC Stage
DESCRIPTION:Join us at NC Stage for Random Act Productions’ “A Christmas Carol: A Play With Music” December 11th – December 21st \nExperience Charles Dickens’ A CHRISTMAS CAROL the way it was intended. \nFrom 1853 to 1870\, Dickens gave public readings of his story\, touring America and Great Britain — even going so far as to develop the characters and voices for his performances. SUMMARY:PERFORMANCE: Johnny Loves Johann – Music and Dance
DESCRIPTION:PERFORMANCE: Johnny Loves Johann – Music and Dance\nWith violinist Johnny Gandelsman and choreographers Melissa Toogood and John Heginbotham\nMonday\, December 15\, 2025 at 7PM\nBlack Mountain College Museum + Arts Center {120 College Street}\nTICKETS– $15 General Admission / $10 for BMCM+AC members + Students w/ID \nJoin us Monday\, December 15 at BMCM+AC for a one-night-only performance featuring world-renowned violinist Johnny Gandelsman and internationally acclaimed choreographer/dancers John Heginbotham and Melissa Toogood. \nIn this intimate\, museum-scale version of Johnny Loves Johann\, Gandelsman will perform Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1 with new choreography by Melissa Toogood and Cello Suite No. 4 with new choreography by John Heginbotham. This unique program offers a powerful glimpse into the larger evening-length work\, bringing together music and dance in fresh\, unexpected ways. With Gandelsman’s folk- and dance-inspired interpretation at its core\, Toogood and Heginbotham infuse Bach’s timeless compositions with humanity\, curiosity\, and contemporary movement—transforming them into a vibrant celebration of connection and community.\n____\nAbout the Program \nAt its heart\, Johnny Loves Johann is a tribute to community – both among the artists themselves and with the audience members who join them on this journey. By inviting these remarkable choreographers to bring their personal and cultural narratives to Bach’s music\, the project creates a tapestry of voices and perspectives that reflect the shared human experience. \nBach’s music is often put in the context of order and notions of perfection. While we can enjoy hearing it this way\, it can also limit our experience of this music as the celebration of humanity and beautiful opportunity for connection that it is. \nGandelsman’s interpretation of Bach’s Cello Suites is special in its folk music- and dance-like qualities. Building upon that\, the Johnny Loves Johann collaborators—each known for visceral\, big-hearted art-making—re-visit the suites by leading with their humanity and curiosity.\n____\nAbout the Performers \nJohnny Gandelsman\nGRAMMY® Award-winning violinist\, producer\, and 2024 MacArthur Fellow Johnny Gandelsman blends diverse musical influences into a unique style. A founding member of Brooklyn Rider and former Silkroad Ensemble artist\, he has collaborated with luminaries including Yo-Yo Ma\, Béla Fleck\, and Mark Morris. \nMelissa Toogood\nRenowned modern dancer and teacher\, Melissa Toogood is Dean and Director of Juilliard’s Dance Division. A former Merce Cunningham dancer and longtime collaborator with Pam Tanowitz\, she is celebrated for her artistry and mentorship worldwide. \nJohn Heginbotham\nBrooklyn-based choreographer and Artistic Director of Dance Heginbotham\, John Heginbotham is known for his innovative works (2019 Broadway revival of Oklahoma! and Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy)\, and collaborations with top musicians and opera companies. He has received numerous awards\, including a Guggenheim Fellowship and the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Award.
