Give your yards and gardens a little local love with our Fall ONLINE Native Shrub & Plant Sale (with pick-ups in Asheville\, NC). Choose from several native perennial species and shrubs\, including azaleas\, ornamental native plants\, pollinator species\, and those particularly beneficial to wildlife. All plants are sourced locally from Carolina Native Nursery. We anticipate some items selling out quickly so don’t wait to place your order! \nOrders will be accepted online from October 1-31st\, while supplies last. You must pay for the order at the time you submit it in order to secure your species and size of choice. Then\, pick up your order in Asheville\, NC on Tuesday\, November 19th from 3-6 pm. Pick-up location coming soon.\n**MUST pick up on Nov. 19th unless prior arrangements have been made by emailing amy@mountaintrue.org. Early pick-up is not available. Items will not be delivered until the morning of Nov. 19th. (If you can’t pick up on that date\, consider asking a friend or family member to pick up on your behalf). \nNative shrubs and perennials are a vital component of healthy streams and lakes. They help prevent erosion\, filter pollution from runoff\, and provide food and shelter for wildlife. MountainTrue staff and volunteers spend significant time and resources removing nonnative invasive plants along streams and lake shorelines to protect water quality and ensure that the native vegetation stays healthy. \n**Please note: several of these plants and shrubs may be “dormant” or cut back. This is normal and not a cause for concern. Here is an article explaining dormancy in plants. \nFor the full species descriptions or to sign up to receive an email notification when the sale goes live\, please visit the event page. \nPlants that are found here inspire a “sense of place” and pride in our mountain communities and promote wise stewardship and conservation of natural resources. For questions related to these or other native and invasive plant species\, email Western Region Program Coordinator\, Tony Ward.

SUMMARY:Innerdance: Altered States of Consciousness with Soundscapes & Energy Work
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a healing journey into altered states of consciousness as we flow through brain wave states with soundscapes & energy work! \nThe Innerdance is a music-based\, meditative\, healing journey. It involves the use of special soundscapes that mimic circadian rhythms and enable people to move effortlessly between different brain wave states. As a result\, people experience an expanded sense of awareness and altered states of consciousness that support conditions for self-healing\, as old paradigms change and new ways of being emerge. \nIn this space of unlimited possibilities\, very profound and mystical things can happen. Common ‘movements’ in the Innerdance include drug-free psychedelic experiences\, past life regressions\, lucid dream-like states\, near-death experiences\, kundalini activations\, synesthesia\, non-dual awareness\, and womb/birth memories. \nBenefits may include nervous system regulation\, circadian rhythm reset\, mental clarity\, inner peace\, greater neural plasticity\, increased intuitive discernment\, emotional regulation\, improved self-esteem\, deep insight\, and enhanced sensory perception. \nLearn More on my YouTube Channel: @linda.innerdance \nMy Innerdance Experience \n \nUnexpected Things That Can Happen In The Innerdance \n \nThe Innerdance Soundscapes vs Sound Baths \n \nINVESTMENT $45\n(Advance Tickets available for purchase from The Horse Shoe Farm only) \nTo register\, please visit \nhttps://thehorseshoefarm.com/upcoming-events \nTo purchase advance tickets\, please call 828.393.3034 \nDATES:\nWednesdays 6:00pm – 7:30pm\nSeptember 4\, 18\nOctober 2\, 16\, 30\nNovember 13\, 27\nDecember 11 \nEvent will take place at The Horse Shoe Farm in The Sanctuary. SUMMARY:A Taste of the Vineyard
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a night of fun to benefit children in Henderson County \nIf dancing and craft beer – and the opportunity to sample some fine bourbon – sound like fun\, Big Brothers Big Sisters’ fundraiser Oct. 3 at Point Lookout Vineyards will get your toes to tapping. \nA Taste of the Vineyard\, BBBS of Henderson County’s annual fundraiser now 11 years old\,\nhas added a new twist – an optional specialty bourbon tasting. It’s all part of a night of fun\, friendship\, and fundraising for an organization that matches professionally vetted and supported “Bigs” with “Littles” looking for mentors who listen well and are up for fun. \nThe annual event will pair a sumptuous BBQ dinner with a cash bar accessing craft beer and wines by Point Lookout Vineyards (specialty bourbon tastings are an additional cost\, except for package deals and sponsorships). A silent auction featuring unique experiences will accompany live music by Marley’s Chain. The dance floor opens up after the meal to continue the celebration of the power and potential of Henderson County youth. \n“We are fortunate to have community support through sponsorships and ticket holders\, allowing us to raise funds that are applied to keeping our dream alive\,” said Joey Popp\, a Henderson County Big Brother and former BBBS of Western North Carolina board member. “The annual event will provide valuable support for our volunteers as they mentor young people to help guide them to success.” \nAdmission is $75 per person. The $1\,000 VIP package include eight event tickets and a complimentary bourbon tasting for each of the eight guests. Tickets are available at https://secure.qgiv.com/for/totv-bootsbourbon/event/totv-boots/. Several levels of sponsorship\, with increasing benefits\, are available at the website too. \nPoint Lookout Vineyards\, with its extraordinary views\, is at 408 Appleola Road\, Hendersonville. \nBBBS of Henderson County\, part of BBBSWNC\, works to ensure every child has an enjoyable\, long-term relationship with a caring adult who believes in them and sees their potential. \nWhen matched with a Big\, Littles gain a role model\, a friend and access to new experiences through which they build higher aspirations for their lives. These relationships provide them with the support they need to improve their academic improvement\, grow their self-confidence and develop skills that will continue to benefit them in adulthood. \nThe experience provides mentors with the opportunity to be an integral part of that young person’s success. SUMMARY:Modelface Comedy Presents Jared Kassebaum at LaZoom
DESCRIPTION:Modelface Comedy brings you the best comedians from all over the country. This week we have Jared Kassebaum from Los Angeles! \nJared Kassebaum is an LA-based comic whose first album\, “The Better Jared”\, hit #1 on iTunes in 2023 and can be heard played on SiriusXM. He performs nationally but is originally from Indiana\, where he misses driving through the cornfields\, but does not miss ONLY driving through the cornfields.\nAt colleges\, clubs\, and festivals around the country\, Jared charms audiences with his unique blend of naive storytelling\, witty wordplay\, and occasional song on a child keyboard. He’s convinced that makes the songs funnier\, even if the venue has a nice piano. A big fan of his PhD biochemist father\, Jared planned to be a scientist his whole life\, but\, after going to a university with the aim to get a PhD in physics\, a tragedy struck as one of his best friends took his own life\, and he realized he didn’t want to take measurements in a lab anymore. His brand of earnest jokes reflects this\, both through his desire to wonder at the ridiculousness of life\, and through his scientific dissection of language. At 6’5”\, he raises your town’s average height\, if raising your average joy isn’t enough. \nages 18+\nDoors at 8pm\, show at 8:30pm \nTickets $15

SUMMARY:Poetry Reading with Wayne Caldwell: River Road
DESCRIPTION:Wayne Caldwell will visit City Lights on Friday\, October 4th at 6:00pm to read from his new poetry collection\, River Road. \nRiver Road is a collection of narrative poems in the voice of Susan McFalls\, writing from her new home in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. \nWayne Caldwell\, author of Cataloochee\, returns to North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains to continue the story of Susan McFalls\, who is left on Mount Pisgah after the death of her dear friend and neighbor Posey Green. These poems follow Susan as she moves to and renovates an old house on River Road\, vividly bringing to life the wild and beautiful land and culture of the Blue Ridge and the cherished memories and new friends that continue to anchor her to this special place. \nRiver Road is a companion to Caldwell’s first poetry collection\, Woodsmoke\, and while the two can stand alone\, together they paint a fuller picture of friendship\, loss\, and the ways in which lives are shaped by the North Carolina mountains. \nWayne Caldwell is the author of the novels Cataloochee (2007) and Requiem by Fire (2010) and the poetry collection Woodsmoke (2021). He has won the Thomas Wolfe Memorial Literary Award from the Western North Carolina Historical Association\, and the James Still Award from the Fellowship of Southern Writers. He lives with his wife\, Mary\, just west of Asheville\, on land that has been in her family since 1831. In his spare time\, he works up firewood.
