We have travelled all over the US\, playing 49 out of 50 states and almost every major city on the map. We have recorded music that we are very proud of. We have played thousands of shows. We have made friends all across the planet that we still hold very dear to our hearts. We even managed to pick up a Grammy amidst all the craziness! \nTwo band members that have been instrumental in continuing the legacy of the Booty Band are Mary Frances aka “Mama Funk” and Lee Allen aka “Insta-Funk.” When we met them\, they played as a duo known as Eymarel. We fell in love with Lee and Mary as musicians and as friends. We often talked about how cool it would be to integrate them into the band. Then one day they moved to Asheville\, we had some changes in the lineup\, they joined the band\, and the rest is history. \nWe wouldn’t be what we are today without their contributions and it’s been a pleasure writing and performing music alongside these two for the last 15+ years. At this point\, Lee and Mary\, along with Booty Band saxophonist Jonathan Cole\, will be shifting their focus to their new amazing project ElectroLust. We fully support them in this endeavor and encourage all Booty Band fans to check out their new project\, as we have high hopes for this group. This doesn’t mean the end to collaborations between all of us. Be on the lookout for special guest sit in performances of some of the band’s (and fans’) favorite tunes at select shows. \nWhen one door closes\, another door opens! \nThat being said\, we have some very exciting additions to the band. We are proud to announce that we will be bringing back original Booty Band members Josh Phillips (vocals/guitar/percussion) and Greg “Gregbob” Hollowell (saxophones) along with the new addition of Patrick Armitage on drums. \nWe are super excited about this new/old lineup! DESCRIPTION:Join us for a duo performance by Sarah Hennies and Tristan Kasten-Krause\, August 7th\, 2025 at BMCM+AC. Composer and percussionist Sarah Hennies and composer and bassist Tristan Kasten-Krause make music rooted in observation. Timbres across percussion and string instruments gradually meld into one; pitches gently float into consonance after bristling in dissonance. The Quiet Sun (2025)\, their debut duo album recorded at ISSUE Project Room\, presents two works that each show a different lens into the large-scale forms they have developed together. Sarah Hennies is a composer based in Upstate NY whose work is concerned with a variety of musical\, sociopolitical\, and psychological issues including queer and trans identity\, psychoacoustics\, and the social and neurological conditions underlying creative thought. She is primarily a composer of acoustic ensemble music\, but is also active in improvisation\, film\, and performance art. Tristan Kasten-Krause is a bassist and composer living in Brooklyn\, New York who’s work enlarges the minutiae of close tones and subtle gestures. His work exploring duration and expanded time has led to multiple sets on the Hudson Basilica’s 24-Hour Drone festival\, performances of extended\, endurance-based works with extreme metal band Scarcity\, and the premiere of a marathon 6-hour opera (2023’s Stranger Love) for the LA Phil.

DESCRIPTION:Classical Wave! \nHonoring all musicians who have contributed to Classical music genre.  Beethoven\, Mozart\, Haydn and many other Classical musicians have written and composed Classical music which has been used in modern day movement classes.  Classical Music can transcend movement in different ways.  Movement can be moody\, soft\, swift\, expansive\, emotional\, jagged\, light and fluttering\, and robust! Join me in this movement exploration of the Classical Wave.  We move to the Maps created by Gabrielle Roth.  \nHomewood\, 19 Zillicoa St. Asheville\, NC\, 28801\,  5:00-6:45pm\, $15-25 sliding scale\, no one turned away.   Brooke will greet you at the door! \nCommunity Potluck: weather permitting\, we will gather in the park across the street from Homewood. Please bring healthy snacks to share in community!  I will bring a trash bag\, paper plates\, and utensils.  I look forward to our gathering!  \nAbout 5Rhythms®\nCreated by Gabrielle Roth and practiced by tens of thousands worldwide. 5Rhythms® is a dynamic movement practice rooted in the principles that if you put the psyche in motion it will heal itself. \nAbout Karen:\n5Rhythms dance is for everyone. This meditative freeform dancing practice was created by dancer and visionary Gabriellle Roth. Accredited 5Rhythms teacher Karen Chapman has been hosting dances in Asheville and around the country for 9 years.  Through the dance\, Karen acts as a guide for the dancer on their journey through the rhythms. Karen is interested in how energy moves on the dance floor through the Breath and Body! \nDance movement timeline:\nDoors open at 5 PM for warm up and close at 5:45 for the opening circle. The wave is complete at 6:45PM. If you can arrive at 5 PM that is best but you are welcome to come to the dance anytime before 5:45 PM.\n5 PM: Warm-up\, Meditative stretching and dancing.\n5:45 PM: Doors Close\, Opening circle\nDemonstration of the 5 Rhythms of Flowing\, Staccato\, Chaos\, Lyrical\, and Stillness.\n6 PM: Dancing the wave of the 5 Rhythms\n6:45: Closing Circle/End\nThank you and see ya on the dance floor soon!
