SUMMARY:Terms of Endearment
DESCRIPTION:Adapted for the stage by Dan Gordon\nProduced by special arrangement with Playscripts\, Inc. (www.playscripts.com) \nMay 1-11\, 2025 \nThursday\, 5/1 at 7:30 (pay what you can available on 4/17)\nFridays at 7:30\nSaturdays at 3 pm\nSundays at 3 pm \nDirector: Jonathan Forrester \nApproximate Run Time: 2 hours\nRating: PG-13 due to adult language and situations. Depictions of drinking\, smoking\, drug use\, illness and death. \nChallenges in life and love test the resilience of a mother-daughter relationship in Dan Gordon’s adaptation of Terms of Endearment\, based on the book by Pulitzer Prize-winner Larry McMurtry and James L. Brooks’s screenplay of the Oscar-winning film. Though Emma is often exasperated by her highly-opinionated mother\, Aurora\, they talk daily about their problems\, from Aurora finding unexpected love even as she becomes a reluctant grandmother to Emma’s struggle in her troubled marriage. But when they need one another most\, will they be able to find courage in each other? This funny and touching story captures the delicate\, sometimes fractured bonds between mothers and daughters\, husbands and wives\, and lovers\, both old and new. \nThe cast of Terms of Endearment: \nTate Albert – Garrett Breedlove \nMark Hodgdon* – Rudyard/Dr. Maise \nVictoria Lamberth – Aurora Greenway \nLauren Otis – Emma Greenway \nJered Shults – Flap Horton \nMary Weisberger – Patsy/Doris/Nurse \n*Making their Hendersonville Theatre debut

Please contact Ayla Busch at volunteer@savehemlocksnc.org or 828-252-4783 with any questions. SUMMARY:Ursula Gullow: Nightbloom
DESCRIPTION:Gallery Hours are Wed – Sat 11am-5pm \nTracey Morgan Gallery is pleased to present “Nightbloom\,” our first solo exhibition of painter and mixed media artist Ursula Gullow. Join us for an Artist Reception on Friday\, May 16 from 6-8PM. \nMoving between classical painting techniques and craft materials\, Gullow’s artwork embraces the decorative arts while reframing the female presence in Western art and rescuing historical imagery from its patriarchal forebears. Her richly painted tableaus and lustrous ceramic objects recontextualize sentimental narratives\, innuendos\, and adornments prevalent in European art history. Flowers\, foliage\, ribbons\, petticoats\, silk stockings\, and ornamental filigree fill her oil paintings of landscapes and interior spaces.

SUMMARY:Empty Bowls
DESCRIPTION:FLAT ROCK\, N.C. Still recovering from the aftermath of the devastating storm Helene\, local ceramic artists will once again fire up their kilns for the eighth year to help hungry children in the greater Flat Rock area. On Sunday\, May 18\, 2025\, “Empty Bowls\,” a community meal benefiting the Flat Rock Backpack Program\, will take place in the Parish Hall at the Episcopal Church of St. John in the Wilderness. \nAdvance tickets are strongly recommended for the two seatings: 12:00pm-2:00pm and 4:00pm-6:00pm. Each ticket includes one hand-crafted bowl donated by area potters\, a soup-based meal\, with soups and breads donated by local restaurants and bakers\, plus homemade cookies baked by church members. For those wishing to eat at home\, take-away is an available option. \nTickets are $30 per person or $50 for a family of two adults and children under 12. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.stjohnflatrock.org/empty-bowls.\n “Hurricane Helene dealt a major blow to our area. All of our support system—the potters\, food vendors\, and sponsors—were all impacted\, as was MANNA FoodBank\, our main source of food for the Flat Rock Backpack Program\,” said Debby Staton\, Flat Rock Backpack Program Coordinator. “Needless to say\, the students we serve were also affected. We are deeply appreciative of our community who keep us on their radar\, always willing to pitch in as we continue meeting the needs of those who are “food insecure.”\nPlease join us for this fun community event. Donations are gratefully accepted throughout the year. The Flat Rock Backpack Program has 501c-3 status. 100% of the money collected goes to feeding at least 150 children in eight schools every weekend. \nThe Parish Hall is located across the street from the church at 1905 Greenville Highway.
