SUMMARY:Exhibition on Screen | The Danish Collector: Delacroix to Gauguin
DESCRIPTION:For many years no-one was interested in the art of the Impressionists. Artists like Monet\, Degas and Renoir were vilified\, attacked\, and left penniless as a result. Then\, something remarkable happened. A new breed of collectors emerged and\, before long\, they were battling to acquire any work by these new\, radical artists that they could find. Amongst them was the visionary Danish businessman Wilhelm Hansen. It was an extraordinary moment in art history; full of drama\, intrigue and subterfuge. Some collectors we may recognize and some we may not\, but Hansen amassed a remarkable collection housed at his summer home\, Ordrupgaard\, on the outskirts of Copenhagen. Exhibition on Screen tells his fascinating story and\, with exclusive access to a sell- out exhibition at London’s Royal Academy\, brings the extraordinary collection to the big-screen in glorious high-definition. From Hansen’s beautiful house and gardens at Ordrupgaard to the streets of bohemian Paris\, this film takes you on a journey to discover some of the best examples of 19th-century French art ever collected.

SUMMARY:David Wilcox Annual Thanksgiving Homecoming Concert
DESCRIPTION:ALL AGES\nFULLY SEATED SHOW\nLIMITED NUMBER OF PREMIUM SEATING TICKETS AVAILABLEDAVID WILCOX \nThere are songwriters who chronicle life\, and then there’s David Wilcox—an artist who metabolizes it. He has long been a quiet force in American folk music; a musician’s musician\, a writer’s writer\, and a seeker whose gift lies in making the personal feel universal. \nWith the upcoming release of The Way I Tell the Story (2025)\, Wilcox proves\, yet again\, that resilience isn’t just a survival skill—it’s an art form. The record shimmers with musical sophistication but leaves just enough space for the listener to feel what Wilcox has always done best: tell the truth\, gently but without apology. \nThe music he’s creating now comes from a place that can’t be faked. In recent years\, Wilcox’s life has been shaped by his wife’s Parkinson’s diagnosis—a shift that reordered his priorities and redefined his sense of time\, love\, and presence. But rather than retreat\, Wilcox leaned in. “Times get tough\, and music gets good\,” he says\, and means it. These songs don’t dramatize. They don’t resolve neatly. They sit in the complexity of living—open-eyed\, unafraid\, quietly brave. \nWilcox’s career began in earnest in the late 1980s\, when his self-released debut The Nightshift Watchman caught the attention of A&M Records. His major-label debut\, How Did You Find Me Here (1989)\, became an unexpected hit\, selling over 100\,000 copies largely by word of mouth and live shows alone—an unheard-of feat for a debut folk record. Critics took note of his deft guitar work and emotional clarity\, but it was the unassuming wisdom threaded through his lyrics that truly set him apart. Rolling Stone praised his “soulful insight\,” while The New York Times called his music “a kind of open-hearted therapy.” \nWilcox’s music still resonates\, especially now\, because it doesn’t try to outpace the moment. It meets it. In his world\, craft is a form of care. Introspection is a public offering. And staying soft in a hard world isn’t a liability—it’s a kind of leadership. \nFor audiences seeking something more than noise\, more than nostalgia\, Wilcox’s songs remain a rare kind of company. Not flashy. Not loud. Just deeply\, generously alive.

SUMMARY:Southern Culture on the Skids
DESCRIPTION:STANDING ROOM ONLY\nSOUTHERN CULTURE ON THE SKIDS \nSouthern Culture On The Skids has been consistently recording and touring around the world since 1983. The band (Rick Miller – guitar and vocals\, Mary Huff – bass and vocals\, Dave Hartman – drums) has been playing together for over 30 years. Their musical journey has taken them from all-night North Carolina house parties to late night TV talk shows (Conan O’Brien\, The Tonight Show)\, from performing at the base of Mt. Fuji in Japan to rockin’ out for the inmates at North Carolina correctional facilities. They’ve shared a stage with many musical luminaries including Link Wray\, Loretta Lynn\, Hasil Adkins and Patti Smith. Their music has been featured in movies and TV\, parodied by Weird Al\, and used to sell everything from diamonds to pork sausage. In 2014 the band was honored by the Southern Folklife Collection at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill with an exhibition featuring their music and cultural contributions. Their legendary live shows are a testament to the therapeutic powers of foot-stomping\, butt-shaking rock and roll and what Rolling Stone dubbed “a hell raising rock and roll party.” \nAt Home with Southern Culture on the Skids is the latest full length album from the band and was released in March of 2021. It was recorded during the stay at home period of the pandemic when the band was at home and not touring. The album consists of 11 tracks recorded and mixed in Rick Miller’s living room with some additional tracks recorded at his studio\, The Kudzu Ranch. \nThe first radio single off the album is “Run Baby Run”—a rocking number with deep garage roots. SCOTS bassist Mary Huff provides an urgent vocal while the band pulls back the throttle on a full race fuzz fest—cause she’s gotta to go fast! Run Baby Run! \nThe other songs on the album are a combination of the band’s unique mix of musical genres: rock and roll\, surf\, folk and country—all a bit off-center\, what Rick proudly calls “our wobbly Americana”. Rick goes on\, “We put a few more acoustic guitars on this one\, as you would expect if you recorded in your living room\, but it still rocks like SCOTS. So put your headphones on\, get in your favorite chair/sofa/recliner\, put on “At Home With” and let’s hang out for a while.”

SUMMARY:The Art of Presence: Meditation and Reflection in the Museum
DESCRIPTION:Step into the Museum’s galleries before the doors open for a quiet and contemplative morning of meditation\, mindful walking\, and reflection. This guided experience invites participants to slow down\, settle the nervous system\, and explore the Museum as a place of sanctuary\, spaciousness\, and renewal. \nThe session will begin with a brief seated meditation\, followed by a walking meditation through selected exhibits. Along the way\, participants will pause with gentle mindfulness prompts designed to support personal reflection\, embodied awareness\, and a deeper connection with the artwork. Rather than offering art historical interpretation\, the experience encourages each participant to notice what arises within them through presence\, stillness\, and mindful seeing. The group will honor noble silence throughout much of the session with occasional opportunities for brief reflection and sharing. No previous meditation experience is needed. \nJoin Joshua on 8/22\, 10/3\, 11/7\, and 12/5. \nJoshua Canter is a mindfulness meditation teacher and the founder of True Nature Travels and Education\, an Asheville-based organization that has offered transformative retreats and educational experiences around the world for more than 20 years. He holds a master’s degree in Contemplative Psychology and is passionate about making mindfulness accessible\, grounded\, and relevant to everyday life.

SUMMARY:The Lemon Twigs
DESCRIPTION:STANDING ROOM ONLY \nTHE LEMON TWIGS\nThe Lemon Twigs’ two previous Captured Tracks albums\, A Dream Is All We Know (2024) and Everything Harmony (2023)\, certainly indicated something of a ground zero in their then five album career. “It was the beginning of making records that we would listen to ourselves\,” says Michael D’Addario\, the younger Twig brother\, now aged 26. By the time of A Dream Is All We Know and the future Michael classic “My Golden Years”\, The Lemon Twigs’ new era had truly begun. And now comes the third Lemon Twigs album for Captured Tracks\, Look For Your Mind!\, which underneath its poppy exterior contains an undercurrent of paranoia and suspicion. \nOpening with title track “Look For Your Mind”\, a jangly Michael number\, the listener is introduced to the guitar-driven harmony sound that is the centering theme of the album. Much of what was achieved on A Dream Is All We Know is here\, just more laser focused. It’s classic Twigs\, indebted to the golden age of guitar pop\, but in no way slavish. \nNew to this album is the inclusion of live Twigs Reza Matin (drums) and Danny Ayala (bass)\, as well as Eva Chambers of Tchotchke\, to the rhythm section. With the brothers previously having handled everything in the studio themselves\, this shows a newfound sense of freedom. “Gather Round” is one of Look For Your Mind!’s bigger productions. A Brian song with joyous orchestrations\, it feels like a turn of the century campaign song. The writer is looking for an uncorrupted leader\, but resolves that collective action is the only way forward. Musically it’s ornate and delightfully 1967\, but the mood and sentiment is distinctly 2026. “Every time we try to write something that’s completely straightforward\, we can’t help adding an element which comes out of left field.” explains Brian. \nBrian’s “Fire And Gold” starts off with a ringing power pop riff before turning everything inside out. It’s also the first song on the album to feature the powerhouse drummer Reza Matin\, whom the brothers favorably compare to Big Star’s Jody Stephens\, The Raspberries’ Jim Bonfanti\, and The Move’s Bev Bevan. Closing side one on the vinyl record is Michael’s beautiful ballad\, “Mean To Me”\, with vocals The Beach Boys would be happy to have committed to wax 60 years ago\, care of Michael\, Brian and Danny. The closer of the second side\, “Your True Enemy”\, completely throws a spanner in the works. “We at first approached the song as a simple rock arrangement\, but it didn’t fit the moodiness of the lyric\,” states Brian. “So that’s when we started to get more experimental.” \nThe Lemon Twigs sixth studio album may at first seem like a direct continuation of the previous two\, but it is also a lot more\, with nods to the earlier records\, a new found collective spirit\, and most importantly great songwriting.

SUMMARY:The Lemon Twigs
DESCRIPTION:The Grey Eagle and Worthwhile Sounds Present \nThe Lemon Twigs’ two previous Captured Tracks albums\, A Dream Is All We Know (2024) and Everything Harmony (2023)\, certainly indicated something of a ground zero in their then five album career.
